Horry has hit a few huge, break-the-other-team's will type threes vs. the Nuggets in the first round. Nothing at the end of games, but in the second halves of game 4 and game 5, I think, he knocked down some threes to stem Denver runs to attempt to get back in the game. Gotta hand it to the guy --- he always seems to be in the right place at the right time. He never really lived up to his Pippen-esque potential, imho, but he sure knows how to play alongside a superstar big man.
In many ways, Horry remided me a LOT of Vernon Maxwell: both would go cold for half-a-season at a time, then come in and hit the game winning shots against the best teams in the league. Players like that are tough on fans and coaches. On the one hand, they don't deliver the goods daily. On the other, they're indispensable in the clutch. Differences between Mad Max and Horry: 1. Position played 2. Maxwell was a MONSTER on defense 3. Horry isn't crazy.
I'd trade Juwan/Mo Taylor/Weatherspoon/Bowen/Vin Baker for Robert Horry. He's playing great in the playoffs.
Horry could have been so much better if he just worked on his game. A prime example of a player who is satisfied with his just being IN the NBA. What a waste..he could have been great. As it was, he was ok, and hit some big shots. DD
That 94-95 team was great with Hakeem and all the supporting players. The current team has T-mac and Yao, ailing Juwon and nobody else. Wesley hasn't made a big shot, Sura always in a hurt, Barry is in his twilight zone.
