Someone saved one of their word documents as my default "Blank Page" so now everytime i get on Microsoft word this document comes up. When i try to create a new document the same thing happens. I have already unistalled Office 2000 completely then reinstalled it, and it didn't fix it. Any ideas on how i can get my "Blank Page" back to a blank page?
find the file "normal.dot" on the computer where this happened. copy it to a different disk (copy, not MOVE). DELETE the ORIGINAL, keep the copy somewhere else. Start WORD again. Word will ask you if you want to create a new NORMAL.DOT Click "YES." You will lose changes you have done before, like style modifications. You can fix this on most WORD versions. This happens if anything becomes corrupt in your original "normal.dot" template. EDIT: 2 minute fix! beat THAT RESPONSE, Microsoft ! Oh, sh*t... they already had it...
Change your Web start page Open the file you want to use as the home page or start page. If the Web toolbar is not displayed, point to Toolbars on the View menu, and then click Web. On the Web toolbar, click Go, and then click Set Start Page. Click Yes. Notes When you change the start page by using the Web toolbar, the new start page is also used by your other Microsoft Office programs and Microsoft Internet Explorer. If you cannot open the page you want to use from your Office program, you can change this setting in most Web browsers.
Still not working. Why won't the file go back to its original form on a complete unistall/reinstall. I installed Office 97 and it worked fine, upgraded back to 2000 and the problem returned. Starting to get just a little frustrated with it...
I finally got it to work. I copied the file location of the "Normal" template. Brought it up using the "run" function. I renamed it then Word started no problem. It wouldn't work when searching for it through the "Find Files" option, but it did this way. Thanks for all the help guys.
After you remove the office. Make sure you remove all the directories associated with office and files before you reinstall. That might work.
Norton had a complete removal tool that is better than the window program removal, you might want to try some of those removal programs.
Yeah, but i tried to do it using the "Find File" tool. The file would come up and i would try to change it and it didn't make a difference. Instead i went to open a new document, copied the link and did an overwrite that way. Just took a different route.
