bring back the old music for the starting lineup and have the red rockets shoot out of the top of the backboards, i know they still do but that was so fun to watch. ALLLLLLRIGHT HOUSTON!! ON YOUR FEEEEEET AND PREPARE FOR A ROCKETS LIFTOFFFF!!!!! that little rocket that moves up into that screen in the middle is kinda cheesy. anyway that song they played before would get me so hyped!! go rockets!!
You do realize that during the first championship season (93-94), the Rockets were introduced to such stellar songs as "Woop there it is", and some other flavor of the months. Then, in the 94 playoffs, they ripped off the Bulls' Alan Parson's Project song (which Phoenix was doing also), and stuck w/ that thru the finals. There was no countdown... no video highlights... and no "alright houston, on your feet." (go watch game 7 Knicks vs. Rockets if you don't remember... I just did). Only in 95 did they introduce the countdown and techno mix that you're refferring to. Granted, they stuck with that for the following 6 years, but it really only had "championship" significance during the first season it was used. In the end... its a new team... a new arena... a new franchise player(s)... a new coach.... and in 10 years after multiple championships, perhaps their current song gets the same favorable opinion as the last one we look back on.
The current intro is completely awesome. I don't know what so many people on here are thinking trashing it. It's very cool.
In 95, Compaq Center played "It's a small small world" when the Orlando introductions took place, but it was just in retaliation to the O'rena playing WHICH SONG when Rockets had their introduction in there? I don't remember... someone bang me on my head so I can refresh my memory... Does anyone remember? In game 2, Orlando Orena did it, we did it in game 3..
This wasn't in retaliation for anything. The Rockets were doing that for opposing team the entire year (and the few years after).... they were playing songs that somehow tied into the franchise/city/or game situation they were facing. A few examples from other teams that the Rockets used for their intro songs: "Hungry like the wolf" -- Minnesota Timberwolves "I'm only happy when it rains" -- Seattle Supersonics "Devil with the Blue Dress on" -- Detroit Pistons (for Grant Hill... who was a blue devil). "Rocky Mountain High" -- Denver Nuggets "Sweet Home Chicago" -- Chicago Bulls "Rhythym is gonna get you"-- Miami Heat (b/c of Gloria Estefan) "Laverne and Shirley theme song"-- Milwaukee Bucks (the show was based there) "I love LA (we love it)" -- LA Lakers/Clippers "Cheers theme song"-- Boston Celtics Man... I can't believe I remembered that many. There were some witty people working for the PA crew back then.
Does anyone know the name of the old intro song or have the file that they can post on here so that I can download it, thanks
I would love to hear the Techno intros again.....imagine. Turbo flying across the court again. Clutch on his Harley.
then turbo and eclipse land on top of clutch on the bike and they ride around like that. then the power dancers rip of their clothes!
Well everyone that was at game 6 got to hear it again right after half time...they started playing it and it was the best feeling......
yeah game 6 was so ridiculous they coulda played polka music and it still woulda been loud... i like the rocket lifting off but i wish they could also bring back the red-airport-runway-worker lights that the power dancers used at the compaq center, i think those 2 together would be cool...
I wonder...I don't have the #s, but haven't the Rockets been better this year with their throwback unis? I wonder if they can pull them out tonight. I know when the 49ers started rolling in their retros in '94, George Seifert, who is ridiculously superstitious, had them wear them all the way through, including the Super Bowl.
Problem is you had to say ahead of time before the season which games you were going to wear the throwbacks...you can't just throw them on. All these rules and regulations.
I am about to get dressed. I am going with the Bull Jersey again. #50 Matt Bullard from my office wall. I'm gonna slap the WBSS on top. I'm ready. This is it. Rox by 7 in 7.
