Tuesday's Story of the Day: Costly Comments Jeff Van Gundy and Ron Artest might appear to have less in common than Felix and Oscar, but the long reach of David Stern's wrath was enough to link the pair in at least one way: Light wallets. In the wake of Van Gundy's comments following Houston's Game 4 loss that officials were "looking harder" at Yao Ming because of complaints to the league by Dallas owner Mark Cuban, Stern slapped the Rockets coach with a record $100,000 fine. And Stern didn't stop there, leaving open the possibility of further punishment. And while SportsNation had little problem with Stern's harsh penalties relating to the Pacers-Pistons brawl, voters think he's out of line this time. Forget more punishment, 86.4 percent of voters think the fine was too harsh. And is it really fair to punish someone for speaking the truth? Stern might not like it, but 95.4 percent of voters think officials treat individual players differently and 78.7 of voters rate this postseason's officiating as either average or poor. Jeff Van Gundy earned a fine even Mark Cuban might envy. What is your opinion of the $100,000 fine levied against Houston coach Jeff Van Gundy?
