Anyone know what the best video rental membership is? So far, all I can find is Gamefly.

Just a few weeks ago, I read an article that compared several of these online game-rental sites. I want to say there were at least 4 or 5 of them (including GF), with the cheapest one being $16-$17 a month for 3 games (I think the others were for only 2). I'm suddenly drawing a blank on the other names though, especially the cheapest one.

FWIW, I signed up for Gamefly last week because they have this 30-day free trial going on. So, I basically get to try a few game for 30 days and then cancel...not bad. ;)

I also can't remember if that deal is still going on. I want to say it is, but the site I got it from (Deal Rush) appears to be down at the moment for me. :(

edit: So far, I've only had two games sent to me by GF: Shin Megami Tensei:Nocturne and Growlanser Generations. I had to send the 2nd one back though because it wouldn't play.

I wanted God of War, but there is a "short wait" for that. :(

I love Netflix. I'm thinking something similar with video games would be excellent for me to invest in.

My wife would probably kill me, though.

Found the article (I love Google).

Here's the names of the main companies doing this, as well as their monthly fees:

    GameFly $21.95
    GPlay $21.95
    Gamerang $19.95
    RedOctane $18.95
    Gamelender $19.99
    GameZnFlix $17.25

These are all for 2 games, except for GameZnFlix, which, like I mentioned earlier, includes 3 games ( they also offer movies).

The article mentioned that it normally takes 1-2 days for Gamefly to deliver their games on the West Coast and 2-4 days for the East Coast, mostly due to their one distribution center. Gamerang and GameZnFlix Inc. each have four distribution centers around the country, according to the article, while Netflix has 30+. They said Gamefly is considering opening up another distribution center to help the shipment process. The article did mention that Blockbuster was thinking about offering games as well in the future, while Netflix is pretty much against it, preferring to stick at what they do best.

When I signed up for the 30-day trial, I actually got the link from Deal Rush. I didn't see it anywhere on Gamefly, so just because it wasn't up on Gamefly doesn't mean it isn't still available....except for the fact that Deal Rush is up now, and April 30th was the last day to sign up.
