My first new topic ever, just wanna you guys know this event and maybe join us.

A lot of basketball fans are sending personal checks($10 each) to JVG to show their support on him. Most of those fans are(or used to be) Chinese graduate students in States. They might be named as "YOFs" by some of rockets' fans here, but they are also turning into rockets fans step by step. Everytime rockets won a game, they would have a little online party at their BBS.

The format of check is payable to Jeff Van Gundy and sent to:

    Jeff van Gundy

    Houston Rockets

    1510 Polk St.

    Houston, TX 77002

    Thanks.

This a great gesture by some fans no matter how much the coach earned. Nobody asks you in, so go away and stop talking trash.

BTW, shanghai_noon, they organize a big donation in mit.bbs. The number is only symbolic (can be $1, $10, or $20), but it shows the appreciation of fans.

If you guys would read the other threads, he can't

Per NBA rules, the fine has to be paid by the person it was given to.

He's a millionaire. I'd rather donate to better, more deserving causes.

I think it is a useful as a terrific symbolic gesture -- I bet he wouldn't cash them anyway.

The fine (assuming it's like the player fines) goes to charity. JVG is a millionaire a few times over. Send your money to a charity in his name if you want to show support, but don't send him money.

Well, if anyone knows JVG's residence address, then we can send it directly there. That is a loophole the NBA can't do anything about.

But per NBA rules, the person being fined is the only one who can pay it. But of course if someone wants to compensate JVG for losing that 100K, then they can. Stern can't do nothing about that

I think the best way to support JVG is not to send him the money. Like most people here pointed out, he has enough and does not need it.

What JVG needs is public support.

What about we sign a public petition and take out a full page ad in a major newspaper?
