I hated him on the Nugs personally. Before I get accused of "sour grapes" because he's no longer a Nugget, if you look back, I made posts this summer about how I hoped he would leave and we would keep Elson. He's too hot/cold. He's streaky. He relies on the home crowd energy. We couldn't play him on the road because he's an energy player and without the crowd behind him, he's worthless. Bzdelik summed up his offensive game perfectly -- "if he's not touching the rim, he's out of his range." He gets a lot of blocks, but he gives up as many baskets because he goes for the pump fake. IN THE RIGHT SITUATION, he could be a decent player. That said, the right situation is fourth big man off of the bench for energy. You don't want him playing serious minutes.
This means he would be totally worthless for the Rockets. We don't have a home crowd that cheers alot. My only point was that he was an option, but he is down the list of options. SAR & Marshall are much better and I'll be disapponted if we don't get one of those guys.
He'd be a good bench player. Not as good as Scalabrine, but similar in minutes expected. SAR, Swift, DM all will expect major minutes, which are not available with JHo.
There is no way you would split an MLE for this guy. If he wants the vet min. Or maybe for the 1.6 exemption, but only if Jon Barry returned for the vet min b/c otherwise I want to save the 1.6 exemtpion for him. Full MLE needs to be saved for SAR, DM, Swift, and full or most of it needs to be saved for other 4 options (Reggie Evans). Thus the MLE is not to be touched until a servicable starting 4 or excellent back-up to Howard is secured. Andersen is not to that caliber, but he might be better to have on the bench than Bowen.
