    I got this from a spam email, and thought I'd pass it along:


    When it comes to E-mail addresses, it seems like many colleges and businesses
    tend to strip the last name down to 6 characters and add the first and last initial
    to either the beginning or end to make up an E-mail address. For example,
    Mary L. Ferguson is mlfergus or fergusml. They are just now beginning to realize
    the problems that may happen when you have a large and diverse pool of people
    to choose from. Add to that a large database of company and college acronyms
    and you can see what can happen. . . . .

    One of my good friends at work has a last name of Graffagnino. His email address was graffag@nortelnetworks.com for a long time before he got them to change it.

    Of course, this example isn't as funny as the ones above.
