Even we lose Game 5, I am very optimistic about winning the next 2 games.

missed FTs by Yao, poor officiating and bad shooting night by Tmac

but i think if we had gotten 10 points from JB, Wes or Sura, we would have won this game. So much of the Rox success is JB or Sura or Wes hitting a clutch three and ever since Game 2, that trio has been quiet.

Everyone played really well, it was only a 3 point game. They played their best, no shame in losing like that.

The refs really screwed us with some really crappy calls. But will they want to take us seriously with the stuff JVG said?

We've got to come back strong game 6.

despite all the adversity tonight we almost pulled it out.

Yao played great tonight and he should take responsibility for the missed FT's but he fired the team up when he came back in the fourth. He's got to come back angry the next game.

T-Mac had a off night, seemed like he didn't have his legs tonight. But when he and Yao play their two man game Rockets have a chance.

Officiating was bad again and really played into the loss tonight, the out of bounds play and the phantom foul was really unbelieveable especially for a critical playoff game, this is the pros not some NBDL game they should not be missing those calls.

    Keep the faith!

It always comes down to FUNDAMENTALS. Free throws. Boxing out.

Obviously the refs took a screwdriver and shoved it up our ass, multiple times. I guess we're just going to have to accept that and make up for it somehow. There is no way Stern can honestly believe this game was called fairly. The biggest phantom call I've ever seen when Nowitzki took it to the basket on Mcgrady late in the game; the assumed foul when we had Finley trapped on the sideline; and of course the out of bounds strip ball.

With all that, we still should've had this game...we put it together in the 4th, and free throws and mavs offensive rebounding killed us.

And someone tell Jon Barry to stop f---ing celebrating just because he hit a 3 to put us down by 3. It's getting a little old...save it for when it really matters.

This one is going seven. The Rockets are making incredibly stupid mistakes and "almost" winning. The way TMac was shooting, the missed freethrows, the turnovers, the untimely lapses on defense. This was a nightmare of "poor fundamentals." And they are obviously playing the refs as well. I am amazed this game was even close.

If the Rockets play anywhere near to their "A" game they will win the next two. Now they MUST protect their home court. Anything can happen in a game seven; TMac, Ming, and the role players could all get hot at the same time and blow out the Mavs. It could happen. I won't quit till the last second of the last game ticks off. I say FIGHT to the last man! NEVER QUIT!!!!!

I think the officiating has been terrible the whole series, but that's not why we lost.

We lost because we could not execute. We played terrible defense, leaving Stack and Dirk wide open. We gave up too many offensive rebounds in the 4th quarter sometimes giving Dallas 2 second chance opportunities. We also missed way too many free throws with good free throw shooters, as well as missing quite a few layups.

I don't think the refs lost this game for us (although for game 4, I have a different opinion), I think the Rockets lost by lack of offensive and defensive execution.

I haven't felt this sick since Duke lost to UConn in 1999's NCAA championship game when I was a sophomore. Speechless. I couldn't believe the refs missed that call. I mean, it's not like it's in transition and their eyes couldn't catch up. Everybody was underneath the basket. It didn't even need to take two eyes to see the out-of-bound. Just sick.

I wouldn't call that we blew the game. Yeah, we did have chances and hurt ourselves with missed free throws by Yao and missed layups by Tracy, but our offense was unstoppable in the 4th quarter, and the pick-and-roll was working to perfection. Dampier hasn't been able to stay on the floor at all, and we should just keep doing that throughout the game. I do see us winning game 6 to force the deciding game. Let's get it done!

I just have one thing to say to some poeple that are saying that the refs screwed us but we lost the game on our own.

Let's say you're taking an exam...100 questions, and you need to get 70 right to pass.

Let's say you got 75 questions right, but then the teacher or professor or grader or whoever, tells you that you only got 68 right because they decided to mark 7 correct answers WRONG for no reason.

Is it your fault that you failed the test? Would you not be going to the principal or dean about it? What if they told you that you should have just gotten 77 questions right so you wouldn't be in your current situation?

    Well?

As crappy as the result was, I was actually a bit inspired by this game... the rockets werent playing well (missed fts, behind all game), the refs were either drunk, drugged or simply stupid and the Rockets almost win. Their comeback in the fourth was remarkable. I mean, as we played and Dallas wins by a hair?

I can feel the fire burning. Rockets wont stand for this in game six. Expect a blowout. The rockets will play with fire in their eyes now that their backs are against the wall.

DALLAS -- Minutes away from finally leading their first-round playoff series, the Dallas Mavericks proved they deserved it.
Keeping alive rebounds, diving for loose balls and making clutch shot after clutch shot, Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks held off a late charge by Houston and pulled out a 103-100 victory Monday night, putting them ahead 3-2 in a series they trailed 0-2 after their last game in Dallas.

After overcoming fourth-quarter deficits of eight and six points to win the last two games, the Mavs led by 11 just seconds into the final period this time. But Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming rallied the Rockets, combining for their last 13 points and getting them within two with 7.4 seconds left.

Jason Terry scrambled to grab an inbounds pass, was fouled and made one of two foul shots to restore a three-point cushion. Dallas immediately fouled McGrady on the ensuing inbounds pass and he missed both foul shots, but got his own rebound and put up a potentially tying 3 from the left corner. It missed and time expired with McGrady on the ground, practically under some courtside seats.

Home fans were happy for the first time this series and now Dallas has two chances to join the 1969 Lakers and '94 Rockets as the only teams to win a seven-game series after dropping the first two at home. Mavs fans will be glad to know those Lakers and Rockets squads were propelled by home wins in Game 5s.

Game 6 is Thursday night in Houston, and Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy may have more on the line than just trying to force a seventh game. He was fined $100,000 earlier Monday for accusing officials of targeting Yao and refusing to tell the league which official was his source.

Commissioner David Stern, who coincidentally attended this game, called the largest fine ever levied against an NBA coach only "an intermediary step" and said an investigation will continue -- once the Rockets finish their playoff run. Stern even implied that Van Gundy could face a lifetime ban.

Van Gundy laughed off the entire case and Yao offered to pay half the fine.

Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday at Toyota Center.
