If we lose this game(which we wont) but just by chance if the refs are pissed at Gumby and screw us with a whistle again. Maybe he need to try the twin towers...Deke dont have to leave the paint on def. and he will be there to help on the offensive boards. Yao wont be so worried with helping(I would rather T-Mac be the helper, he had 3 great blocks from the weakside Sat.) This may also cut down on the stupid fouls that are being called. Now it may hamper us on the fast break, but it will be up to our guards to get back, and Deke runs better than Yao, even at his old age. Just kickin it around

You know, I'm not sure this is a bad idea. We could dominate inside, even if there would be a mismatch somewhere on the defensive end, at least they would have a very difficult time driving to the hoop.

and who do we put in if they both get in foul trouble (a likely situation)?

I thought about it too this morning. I think we certainly can give a try, but playoff isnt regular season, dont know Gundy is willing to do that.

If we one or both get in foul trouble he can goto his lineup of padgett, t-mac, sura, barry, weasly (switch james out as one of the guards) or switch bowen out with padgett. Truthfully, I would use Vin Baker on Dirk, hell he has 6 fouls might as well let him use them. And Vin is able to hit the 15-18 foot jumper, to bad he just a drunk depressed former All Star or Gumby prob would try it.

Go with the small lineup with Padgett and Bowen at the 4 & 5.

Deke plays the 4, all he has to do is follow opposite of Yao in the lane. I think that Yao should slide across the lane facing Mavs basket, he more of a target that way. I see Shaq do it all the time...he just go back and forth...then when he get the ball all he has to do is turn and shoot. Deke can play weakside, and you know he has a nose for the ball, he would gobble up so many of the rimouts .

A majority of the games that we lost are due to perimeter shooting. We just don't have a guard that can guard a great shooter. Both Yao or Deke did a great job in the paint if Refs did not accidentally blow the whistle.

Thank you. Playing Deke/Yao together isn't the answer.

That would be interesting. It seems that the Mavs are forcing us to play "small". This may force their hand in a sense.

It is a scary to think though of our 2 seven footers chugging downcourt though. I wish there was a situation where we had the opportunity to experiment. But each game has been too close for this kind of comfort.

Another thing that pisses me off is ...finley and stackhouse hardly ever pass out the post, and we dble so late that they just shoot the jumper. Now if Im correct, isnt there a rule about backing in...that you have to pass out after 3 seconds or something, cuz i swear stackhouse dribbles in forever.

I don't think some people understand how utterly mediocre Mutombo would be if you played him even 30 minutes per game every day.

Mutombo is the greatest back-up C in the league. He'd have trouble if you played him too much. First, he tires. Secondly, he lacks any offensive ability whatsoever. That's fine in a sub, but if he started, the Mavs would be able to exploit it extensively. Finally, we'd lack any back-up whatsoever at C at that point.

NO WAY!!! Who would guard Dirk? That would have to be T-Mac, which would create mismatches, IMHO. We could do that if we meet up with San Antonio at some point, but not now.

Well then I would like to see Gumby, let T-mac be weak-side help when they try and take advantage of Yao ....He came baseline for 3 blocks last game....He has the speed, but they just got to make sure the only person they rotate off of is Howard. Terry is a assasian and Finely is a pest.
