it's the help defense and the rotations on defense that are leaving these guys open. It's the sideeffect of the defense. Either work harder to rotate effectively, or stay at home. They have too many weapons for us to stay at home all the time. But bottom line, those two were on, they were hitting, can't really do much about that...just try harder to get a hand in their face.
Definetly, he's been the silent killer in this series. He wasn't getting the ball much for shooting until Game 4 in which he went off, but he's been shooting great all series.
Terry has been magnificent. But, It seems that every time some of our players deflects a pass, forces a bad pass, or tips a rebound...Terry is camping at 3-point line and miraculously gets the ball.. and SWISH. Nothing but the net. It would be nice if the ball would bounce our way just for change...
Too. Many. Freaking. Open. Shots. Just get a hand in Terry's face and he'll crumble. In the immortal words of Damon Jones, we're making Jason Terry a star.
Terry had a Matt Maloney game. Let's not get carried away here. There's no way he'll have the same type of game tonight. Finely is always dangerous...but the strategy will work. Shut down Dirk is the key to the game. And rotating a bit faster on defense. Do those things....and that's it. This game is in Houston's hands.
Jason Terry has shot the ball incredibly well all season, hitting 50% of his field goal attempts and 42% of his 3-pointers. There is absolutely no reason he should have any open looks. If the Mavs win the series, he'll be their MVP.
I had Game 4 taped and I watched it. It sucks how they double on Dirk and then leave him wide open. I would just let Bowen, T-Mac, and Padgett play him one-on-one. Why doesn't someone other than Terry or Finley's defender come double down on Dirk and continue to defend the pass to Finley and Terry?
I disagree. I would recommend to give Dirk the mid range and tighten the defense everywhere else. Dirk's not killing is. It's the alternate open shot. And maybe Dirk's flopping.
nothing is more frustrating rockets play solid defense for 19 secs+ and then a loose ball tap out or something goes to the mavs and they nail a three on it. not just terry but stackhouse and finley have done it too in this series. i groan every time i see a ball bounce towards the mavs on the perimeter on a broken play.
Our rotations were terrible the last games. We're allowing too much penetration. We're cutting it off way too late and we're doubling off the wrong person. If anything we should be doubling off of howard and not terry and finley. Howard will slash to the basket but I'd rather howard go for 40% for 2 pts instead of terry and finley going for 40% from 3pt land
The last thing we need to do is give Dirk a chance to put up 40. If their role-players step up and ours don't, then we lose. But let's not commit suicide by letting their superstars beat us. I know Berry, Wesley, Bowen and James will play better D.
Terry has been killing us these past two games. The rox need to find a way to put more pressure on him w/o changing the d too drastically. Double team hard, yah, but get back to your man even harder. I'm not too concerned about Finley though.
why dont the Rockets just play man D and let Dirk kill them but shut Finley and Stack down if one of those is not doing well but Dirk is we still win, but Dirk's shot is off id rather just play man and shut down their other stars.
Whose been killing us so far in the past 2 games.....Dirk or Finley/Terry? I would let Dirk score his 40 and play D on the role players. Contain Finley, Terry, and Stackhouse.
