Cardinal and Batteir should not be seeing floor time. As I was watching the game, i kept seeing the missing assignments and making dumb mistakes with the ball. Their decision making and relatvely slow footspeed is killing Memphis out there.

Hmn, good question. I know it took awhile for him to come around after an injury early last season. And I haven't followed his season; interesting to see he went from 1st to 3rd on the depth chart.

    (inevitable segue to wish-we-had-that-player)

I'd love to have him back. Imagine T-Mac and Posey (who has a home in the Houston area) as defensive stoppers, and running the fast break. Drool.

EDIT: PLEASE let's quick talking about meeting Phoenix or Memphis in the 2nd round. WE HAVE a lot of hill to climb yet against the Mavericks.

What game are you watching? Griz 19 FT, Suns 40. Greater than 2-1 free throws attempted. And the griz were going to the basket.

Wow, Amare really owning the grizz. The suns are going to be hard to beat. If u watch there games, like i do, u can see just how good they are. Rockets or Mavs, going to have a hard time. I think people are going to change the way they think about suns this year.

I don't think the Suns are that good. Memphis just isn't getting it done. They have talent..disappointing

Because of their racehorse style of play, the Suns punish inferior teams worse than other top level teams do. The Grizz just don't have the talent to have a chance at winning this series. Even if they had won Game 2, it would have only extended the inevitable by one game. If/when the Suns meet the Rockets, Spurs, Pistons or Heat, they will be exposed. When Phoenix doesn't get a huge amount of easy baskets and wide open looks in transition, they are very vulnerable because their half court offense isn't that good. Their defense isn't good either. That is why the Rox beat them twice in Phoenix.

The Grizz just don't have a good enough 7-8 player rotation. They also don't have a take charge leader the other players look to. They are perfect fodder for the Suns; it's almost like a first round bye. It will get a LOT harder for Phoenix after Memphis.

You dont have the best record in the nba, by not being good. The reason teams score huge against them, is that they score in under 15 secounds alot of plays. So suns get alot more attempts to score,as do there opponets. Btw suns had 12th best Opp Fg % in the nba. Pacers has 11th. Thats pretty good, for a team that doesnt play "d". Houston won 2 out 4. And Phx should of won the last game. Pnx vs Mavs or Rocks will prob go right down to 7 games. 2nd round is when the playoffs really get going..

The "secret" to the Suns' success is they adapted to the new NBA rules favoring the offense faster than any of the other teams. Basically, they saw the rule changes coming and re-built the team in a very short span (drafting Stoudamire, trading Marbury & Hardaway, signing Nash & Q).

The secret to the Suns success is their 5 players on the court are usually better than yours.

Serious flaw with this logic. When Nash was injured then it would have been (paraphrasing you) "4 of their players on the court are usually better than yours". W/O Nash they are pretty mediocre.

They played quite well without him. He only missed 7 games, and im sure they only lost 2 of them. But if u take any star player out of a team, they are not going to play great. Suns, just have Amare or Marion to take over, if nash is out. Not many teams have 3 star players. Btw, if your watched the suns play, not just saw stats recaps etc, u will see just how good Amare is, and also, how good the suns really are.

they were 2-5 without nash. you're "sure" they only lost 2 without him?

and wouldn't having more stars mean it would be easier to absorb the loss of one of them, not somehow the other way around.

U sure? I will take ur word 4 it. Im sure it was only 2.. Ahh well. My mistake.
Well i think Amare means more to the team then nash. Pnx would have no big men at all, if Amare went down. Scottie Pippen at NBA.com says the same thing. So i must be saying somthing right.. Or am i......Anyway, Go Suns, Go Rockets..

Every single one of the Suns players is made better by the other players. They're all having career years. Nash has great guys to pass to. Amare has a great passer and great shooters to keep him relatively unguarded for most of the game. Watching the Memphis series, I keep finding myself yelling, "somebody guard Amare, he's wide open on every play!" But if you send help on the pick and roll, then you got Joe Johnson, a ridiculous shooter hitting wide open 3's. Marion just does all the dirty work, with the defense not focused on him at all.

The perfect example of what being on that team can do is Stephen Hunter. Here is a guy who was terrible on the Magic. The best players on that team were Tmac, Juwan Howard, and Lue. Now he comes to the Suns, and he actually looks pretty good out there. He can fill Amare's role pretty well for a guy who was traded from the worst team in the league. I'm sure he has worked hard to improve his game, but an athletic big man can wreak serious havoc when surrounded by 4 great shooters and passers.

I am telling you, the Suns are very overrated. They are just like the Mavs of a couple of years ago. They might have one of the best records in the league. But when it comes down to slow down defense, GAME OVER.

The gizz had the 4th best defense in the nba. They coundt stop the suns. If the suns have a weakness, its not guarding the post very well.. But there 4 real, and they will be well rested 2, waiting 4 dallas and houston to slug it out.

Everyone and their mother is saying this. I think besides the Spurs they're definitely the best team in the West. They're gonna get a kick out of proving so many doubters wrong.

Bingo, except I would say "always". I think only Detriot, SA or Mia could beat them, but not because their starting 5 is better.
