I know, I know - no excuses - we lost. I'm just being a little Mark Cuban-ish and throwing the numbers out there for the conversation: Mavericks Rockets Game 1: 33/42(!) 18/20 Game 2: 19/26 24/27 Game 3: 32/37 17/25 Totals: 84/105 59/72 ! = How did we win this game? I think my numbers are right. Got them off of NBA.com - hope I added correctly... Anyway, that's a big point/attempt differential there. Are we just that foul prone?
If you watch the mavs anytime they lose the ball they throw their hands in the air and make a nasty looking face as if they were just smacked with a bull whip. I think that reaction leads to more calls, I guess we just need to quit being men if we want a fair game.
Sad to see that the Mavericks have more free throws made than the Rockets attempted. I think Cuban's foul tracking system on refs have made an affect on the calls. That is such an immense disparity. I don't think this is an excuse for the loss.. this is a statistic.
the mavs are floppy, whiney, punks. the refs need to call the game evenly. i expect game 4 to look like game 2 as far as fouls are concerned.
rockets took way too many jumpers in game 3 and that's why there is a disparity in that game. game 1 was officiated horribly, but game 3 is on us. rockets need to be more aggressive and get the ball to the rack.
Cuban's whining clearly has an effect, JVG needs to get on the ball and whine about the lack of respect both TMac and Yao get. DD
They took jumpers b/c everytime they drove the lane and got hacked there was no foul call being made so they were ending up empty-handed with that strategy.
They are officiating in a way that favors the mavs. The rockets are in the business of making shots, not flopping. All other series have been officiated different from this one. There are a ton of no-calls and you basically have to draw blood to get called for a foul in those other series. The ticky-tack fouls are good for the mavs and their weenie players.
The officiating was terrible lastnight, especially for a high profile playoff game. I hope the front offices look at the tape and see how poorly this game was officiated. 2 out of the 3 games have seen HUGE differences in FTs, and F$%&ING Cuban is still crying like a little baby.
Well, we're still gonna win this series, but I don't want us to resort to be whiny, floppy b****es now. We cannot be that which we hate - the Jazz of old/the Mavs of today.
I have ti-vo Idirk is losing the ball and getting all the calls. What's up with that?If they keep giving dirk these fouls it's gonna be hard for the rockets to overcome that.
Can anyone tell me who were lastnight's officials? I saw Steve Javey out there but I couldn't make out the other two?
It was pretty terrible last nite, I just remember T-mac driving to the hole and and getting wacked, no call, the Mavs ran on the break and Stackhouse drove to hole and drew a Whistle.
You know I sort of feel guilty that we all are crying like little babies, too. I mean Dallas did do what they needed to get a run in the fourth and finally rack up a win. Even choker extraordinaire Nitwitzki came up for them big with clutch shots over TMac to finish the game. So I will give them their credit due as far as both teams are concerned. But now in the interest of basketball the game itself, I am still shaking my head as to what exactly is a foul and what is not. Both games 1 and 3 have been models for inconsistency in how games are called. I can't figure out what is going thru the officiating crews' heads when they make the determinations on these calls and no-calls. I can't solve the question of why Jess Kersey would think Yao would first get position in the paint, then retreat 6 feet further AWAY FROM THE BASKET with his arms tied up with Nitwitzki, and in the process be responsible for the whole sequence by way of offensive foul. These refs all have years or decades of experience including hours or meticulous gametape review after every game. I just cannot figure out how these calls can keep being made against Yao for going on three years now. And all the while JVG and Yao remain pretty much quiet about it. I mean Yao will generally flash a look of amazement everytime and then just walk back to the bench quietly. Is it them or is it us? That's what it comes down to. Either we are all wrong about how Yao is being officiated and the refs have been making correct calls all along......OR the refs have been instructed by the league to officiate Yao in this manner for whatever reason. Because it is outright IMPOSSIBLE that seasoned officiating crews can miss so many calls on a consistent basis over 3 seasons simply out of happenstanced error.
When you're blaming the officials you are ALWAYS battling the wrong team. Suck it up, endure whatever unfairness you perceive, and win the game anyway. It's just another challenge to overcome.
