Michael Finley, on the block. Seriously.

I live in Sacramento, and hence I saw pretty much all their playoff games, and those couple years when the Kings drew the Mavs in the playoffs... oh man... even when the Kings won easily, they had NO answer for Finley on the block. Finley absolutely OWNED everyone the Kings tried, including Christie, who was a great, great defender at that time, and Peja, who is far bigger than Fin and still has some mobility. But for whatever reason, Finley would be stomping all over Sactown, and Nelson would just stop going to him. To this day, I still don't know why. If Nelson had told the Mavs back then to keep pounding it to Finley, I don't think the Kings could've won.

Consider this my prayer that the Mavs don't figure out that with McGrady checking Dirk a lot of the time, Finley is left with a guy way, way too small to cover him in the post. Fin may not be what he was, but he can still take anybody smaller than him to school in the post.

Is there a reason the Mavs don't seem to have even thought of this?

Does Finley still play for the Mavs? I don't think I saw him in either game...

Rockets play a little something called team defense.

findogg is a streak shooter, and he doesn't attack the basket like he used to. he's the $102 million man who shoots at 35%. if he returns to the '02 fin when the mavs went to the wcf, then there could be problems.

but like nelly said, the kings played about as much defense as the mavs did in all of those series.

Exactly what I was thinking. Sac has never been known for their stellar defense.

The only block Micheal Finley will be on is the trading block after the Rockets sweep this team of losers.

Screw that, Finley's lost a few steps since his prime in the late 90's. He used to be really explosive, but now he's simply an above average perimeter player.

The real threat on that team is Jason Terry. He's got a damn quick 1st step, and can hit the outside shot consistently. He can light us up for 30-35 points on any given night.

Taking nothing for granted you still don't want any of the Mavdicks to get their shots going. Fin & Stackhouse should be well defended when Dirk is double teamed. I'll take my chances with Jason Terry or Bradley to be us....lol.

Jerry Stackhouse is much more dangerous in the post than Michael Finley

For those of you who say the Kings couldn't play defense, Doug Christie in 2002 was a better defender than anybody the Rockets currently have and he couldn't do a thing about Finley.

I bet if you put Michael Finley's name in the thread title, not many people would bother to read it. :p

Well, looks like you weren't lying Drex. 3 for 3 and 8 points in the first quarter.

Finley shot more. Dirk shot less. Mavs won.

Here's hoping Fin goes back to watching Dirk like in the first two games, rather than actually playing basketball like he did tonight. :(

Their secret weapon is making Sura think that he is a superstar so he can jack up nearly twice as many shots as Yao.
