Rome mentioned that JVG was practicing them hard... asked him about McGrady stepping things up to a whole new level.

He said McGrady said "I'm going to step up my game, and I expect the same from you." (to the rest of the team) Bobby didn't think he had another gear, but said he obviously did. His scoring and defense have been incredible for us. As good as he is, I don't think he has had as good a supporting cast as he has here to win it all.

Does everyone else have to earn the superstar's trust?

Yeah, I think he believes in us all now, and in yesterday's game, he was able to find us, and we hit the shots.

I think we have something special here, and we have added a number of great guys who all feel this is our best shot. I definitely think this is my best shot in my career.

Yao has taken a lot of criticism that he's not another Shaq, but he's been huge for us. He's 7'6", and he's not a power player like Shaq, but he's such a finesse player, and he's going to be great doing what he does.

(rome) Does it hurt Yao when everyone is so critical of him, or says he falls short of what's expected of him? (bobby) No, it motivates him, and he comes in early, and stays late in practice.

(Rome) Everytime Jon Barry goes someplace, he establishes himself working hard, going after loose balls, getting the bench going, great sense of humor and endearment with the fans, great passer, great in the locker room, and most of the teams he is on wins. (Bobby) He's been really great here, and he keeps the bench motivated to go all out all the time.

What are you doing to Dirk? Our secret weapon is Ryan Bowen, and we've been saving him all season just for this moment to shut down Dirk. Just joking, he's done a great job, but we've worked hard on team defense, and that is frustrating Dirk, and we hope that continues.

JVG doesn't want anyone to be content after winning 2 games. We've had a hard time handling success throughout the year, and JVG doesn't want that to happen the next game, so he's worked us hard today and is drilling that in our heads. I think we'll be ready. But, the guys like him so much. He's extremely well prepared for every game, gives it everything he has, is real, he listens to us, he cares about us, shoots straight, and we respect him in the locker room and on the floor.

(I'm sure there was more, but that was the jist of it. If someone else caught a few more comments, please post them.)

    yea...I got it..

Since Im so far out of town...I have this irritating little hum that is always present on AM radio...so Im running it thru a processor to clean up the signal.

Will have it out in a few minutes.

btw...The interview should make some folks happy since he says all the right things about how hard they are working and how they arent taking anything for granted right now.

Rome: Whats with you and Bradley
Sura: That tall stick is a dirty player, and he lucky my back and knee are sore or I would pull a T-Mac on him
Rome: (LAUGHING) Do you think you could take him in the ring??
Sura: Ofcourse, no doubt at all (Barry screams in background....Gumby says get your a$$ back to practice)
Sura: Give me 3 rounds with him Rome, just me and my hair gel..Gotta ....(Loud thump) Rome: Damn guess Bobby Sura fainted......Sura is Ouuuuuuuuut.

Rome isn't so much of a bandwagner as really just someone who will give you props when you deserve it, and generally just ignore when you're not registering anything on the radar. In that way, he's not your prototypical sports show, as there is so much more other things going on. The only real b-ball team he is passionate/critical of is the hometown Lakers, and every other team usually gets a mention only when they're super hot or one of their players is involved in a paternity suit; nature of his show, I guess.
