I agree with you Tango. We were getting burned with Yao guarding Howard and with Yao doubling on the pick and roll and leaving Dampier. I think JVG decided that he wanted Yao on the floor, and he wanted to make Dirk make that pass to Dampier. If we'd lossed the game, those decisions could easily have been considered bad coaching moves.

Um no. The reason JVG didn't adjust to Josh Howard was "burning" Yao was because, how would you adjust? Quickness and athleticism is what this team is missing. He could put TMac on Howard, but who's gonna guard Dirk? Bowen had 3 fouls at that point. Not being able to adjust (because of lack of depth) is completely different than not being smart enough to adjust. Not to mention, Yao was killing Dirk on the other end and Josh Howard ain't doin' nothin' to help it. Conveniently people always seem to forget you need to play at both ends of the floor. But even if you assume he wasn't, what kinda of message are you sending him when you say "Yao, you can't guard Josh freakin' Howard." Besides, people are talking about Yao gettin' burnt when Josh Howard score 3 freakin' baskets on him. And each time you could see that Yao was getting closer to blocking it. The next time he would have shoved it right down Howard's throat, which is why the Mavs stopped going to him
