I forgot that Hakeem also is one of three players to score a quadruple double and fell one assist short of doing it twice in the same year.........

Little kid? I was going to Rockets games, supporting Akeem/Hakeem, while you were still crapping in your diapers.

Again, I didn't say McGrady is the greatest Rocket ever. I just said "WILL" he be the greatest ever? It's really a simple question. I don't see what the big deal is.

Rockets fans SHOULD want McGrady to end up better than Hakeem. That would likely mean we have won a lot more championships.

He's still not at the level of Hakeem (and probably never will be), but his performance against Dirk so far reminds me a lot of Hakeem vs Robinson.

Hard to compare because they play different positions. McGrady needs to do it longer. But I certainly like what I see so far.

For me, Drexler and Barkley are better than T-Mac, and all these players are far away of Hakeem, THE DREAM is and WILL be the greatest rocket ever!!! , ok? do you understand?

    Here is a prove:

I am such an Hakeem homer that I rank him above every player save Jordon. In fact, he's in the same eschelon as Jordon in my eyes, but I can't say that without getting ridiculous looks.

For me, Hakeem is the greatest Rocket for these reasons:
    1. First championships to the franchise and city
    2. Amazing numbers for many years
    3. His personality and contributions to the community
    4. He was an innovator in the game

T-mac is a phenomal player, but there's a lot he has to do to get there...remember, they wanted to build a statue of Hakeem. Will T-mac get there...I think he has to change the game somehow and bring championships, but I think he has to change the city in some way as well. Just as Hakeem did.

I'll put it in objective terms.

In order for anyone to have a legit argument that T-Mac should be in the same breath as Hakeem as the greatest Rocket ever he must:

    1. Stay in Houston for around 8-10 more years.
    2. Have stats every year that mirror or better his stats of this year.
    3. Rox must be serious playoffs contenders for the majority of his stay here.
    4. Win at least one MVP.
    5. Win at least one Championship.
    6. If he does leave Houston, it must be on the downside of his career.

Love T-Mac, but the argument is hollow at this moment.

As for the MVP point, if he continues his stellar playoff performance and has a great year again next year and the Rockets are seriously challenging for the Spurs for the Southwest title, then he should be the favorite to win it next year. I can't think of a reason why he shouldn't be the favorite. But then again the friggin front running media always controls this stuff.

Man, I am just slowly soaking all this Rocket fever up with a big fecal eating grin. I'm also just loving what the Dallas side has to say, especially the "it's not what the Rox are doing, we just aren't playing well" load of crap.

    Go Rox!!!!! :D :D :D

Now that I think about it....it's possible that Yao will be remembered as the greatest Rocket ever.

Not by us here perhaps, Hakeem and T-mac will probably put up more points and things....

But Yao is something truly unique in the eyes of the world. There's something very American about a complete foreigner coming here and becoming a superstar in the U.S. The world doesn't know who Hakeem is, but they know Yao...and in that sense, Yao might already be the greatest Rocket ever.

If Tracy wins 5 championships with the Rockets will he overcome the greatest rocket label we've given Hakeem?

    A trivia:
Anyone remembers if Hakeem's ever made a reverse dunk or a reverse layup in his career?
Has he ever made a behind the back dribble?

    Don't guess, search your memory.

a reverse dunk? yeah, and i'm sure he did that plenty of times.

a reverse layup? like that play where yao faked one way then flipped it up on the other side of the glass? which was a copy of hakeem? yeah.

a behind the back dribble? don't remember one. but he did have several plays where he stole the ball and then took it coast to coast for the layup or dunk. two in the finals against boston and bill walton in '86.

Hakeem showed up Mister Robinson after he recieved the MVP trophy... he was man on man the whole series, and Dominated every aspect of that match up. ... That has been one of the best match ups I have ever seen * iam only 26*
