i was fortunate enough to be at the great game tonight, and just some things i noticed... most mavs fans really understand how good mcgrady is.. the people around me just sounded defeated when tmac was making his sick shots today.. i heard some stuff like "that's a bad boy right there" and "he's been doing that crazy **** all season long".. the biggest thing that made me smile was when i was eavesdropping on a couple guys talking during the 4th when we were breaking away.. they said that TMAC was just out superstar-ing DIRK. tmac was handling the double and finding either the open man or the shot, but dirk seemed to be way to passive. they said that tmac was in their opinion better at this stage than dirk was in handling the load for a team. another thing is that the AAC gets really really loud. i was at the playoff games against the lakers last year, and IMHO the mavs fans really kick the rockets fans in 1. attendance(showing up on time) and 2. noise. there was a stretch when they were making that comeback and rockets took a time out, and during the entire TO i didn't see a single person sit down but the place just kept getting louder and louder. their mascot sucks, CLUTCH is much more entertaining. they have a stupid little horse named CHAMP which is weird since they haven't won a damn thing. the mascot did barely anything.. they mostly were all accepting the fact that their team didn't come out to play tonight. a lot of times they were blaming the refs, but they were really on dirk for not showing up.. also said that dikembe was better than yao anyway and that they shouldn't have tried to foul yao out generally nice people.. i didn't get much ribbing for wearing a yao jersey. they'd stare as i passed them in the lobby but didn't say anything until we passed, then i heard a faint "boooo" awesome game tonight.. i'm gonna be at game 3 in houston, and i want to see houston pumped and loud when we try to go for the 3-0 lead!!!
Yeah on the Ticket they were acting like it wasn't the Rockets that beat them but that it was more of Dirk not showing up and that they "aren't worried" about losing the series. They got us right where they want! Rockets 1 Dallas -100 Mwhahahaha!
they showed a guy on tv today with a yao jersey...was that you?? haha. my friends got a lot of crap when they went to a reg season game when the mavs were playing us. but then again, we kicked the crap out of them and they were singing the yao ming song all the way out of the stadium
man, I don't think I'll ever wear another yao jersey to a basketball game not in houston again. I wore my Yao when we beat them @ Memphis earlier in the season. I really didn't get heckled at the game, but just when I was out walking around downtown Memphis that night I must have had 50 people say "YO! YAO!"
I wouldnt have shut my mouth if i was in the AAC last night. I would've been laughing at those mavs fans allll niiiight loooooong
Thats what I was doing and it was greaaat! We got lucky enough to sit next to some Rox fans so there was a group of us just rubbing it in allll game.
We were there as well and me and the wife heard a lot more stuff than you did. My wife was a screaming match with like 2 rows of Mavs fans behind us. I was so zoned into the game that I didn't even notice them until I heard my wife yell something. It was kind of funny because once we got hold of the game the best barbs they could throw was "Your city stinks" and that was about it, at which point I would turn around and yell the score at them, no more no less. Man, my cousin and I were able to get tix for the game... it was a classic!!! For a die hard, it was like a dream. I could not have asked for more. I unfortunately was only able to wear my Rox cap (shirts were dirty ), but my cousin found his old school shirt from when we won the first championship so that balanced it out a little. We sat center court on the very top row but the seats were really nice. Especially since there was a wall behind us so we could stand up the whole time without upsetting anyone behind us. Now I am not saying we did not upset anyone. They were ok in the beginning with us screaming Every time the Rox did anything positive, but as the game went on the mavs were going down... they were a little less OK with us and our antics!! (Their clappers sure came in handy though...) Speaking of the clappers... I talked with a few of the fans near me that were season ticket holders and they said that Cuban supplies clappers, poppers or some other type of noise maker to every game. Even in the nose bleed seats. That right there seems to inspire the crowd a little more. To be hones though... mav fans were pretty good. That place was freaking loud!!! Which of course I was happy about because I knew that would pump up our guys.. Overall it was one of my favorite moments as a Rocket fan that I will NEVER forget. Truly awesome. Oh yeah, american airlines center, is REALLY REALLY nice... GO ROX!!!

I went to game 1 also. It was awesome! Some fans were punks though. some of the things that happened - we had 1 lady in front of us threatening to get the usher because she "heard" us cussing. Honestly, the worst thing we said was "hell yeah". whatever. If we werent wearing rockets stuff, no one woulda cared. I could hear mavs fans cussing, but that lady didnt seem to care then, hahah. Then later in the game, some girl behind me asked me to sit down, this is during a timeout (after barry hit a 3 in the 4th quarter). My friend told her that we cant ask them to sit down, so why should we have to sit down. It was sad because we werent being obnoxious, we werent talking trash back to some fans (which i think was making them more mad, hahah), we were just yelling for the rockets, nothing else. Usually we are the opposite and we will make it known that the Rockets are the best team to ever exist, but this time we were calm and people were still getting mad at us. After the game, when we were outside, lots of rockets fans were getting together. As I was high fiving one guy, a mavs fan comes and bumps both of us and says watch out, like he had no where else to go and had to walk right between us. That got me kinda pissed off for a second, but i just laughed. I still pushed him back and told him "dont get mad because your team sucks" and "i hope you didnt buy tickets for game 2, you just wasted your money" Anyways, it was a fun game and the fans were loud. cant wait til we beat them again tonight!
Not going to tonites game, we are driving down on Sat. for the game in Houston. Wish I had the cash to every game
