David Moore - Mavs in 6: Just the latest example of why Dallas is better than Houston.

Eddie Sefko - Mavs in 5: Rockets' 1-2 punch not enough for the Mavs 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 punch.

Gerry Fraley - Mavs in 5: Rockets players take to heart dire predictions of doomsday coach Jeff Van Gundy.

Tim Cowlishaw - Mavs in 7: First step to their first finals.

Kevin Sherrington - Mavs in 6: The beginning of a great triangular rivalry in Texas.

Kevin Blackstone - Mavs in 5: When the season ends Don Nelson will wonder 'Man, did I leave too early?'

I'm just suprised at multiple writers picking the Mavs in FIVE. That's crazy talk.

Kevin Blackistone is one of the most annoying sportswiters ever--watch Around the Horn and see what I mean...

I'm so glad we won ! I bet those Dallas sports guys are having a ball writing their column right now...

Same here.. my best friend seemed to think the MAVS would manhandle us in this game, and it would just be a warm-up. Well my rockets proved him wrong, and now I cant wait for game 2 to be the same way.

    WTF is that all about?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
where is this mystical depth that dallas has?????? if you ask me, i think the rockets have better depth with james, mutombo and barry coming off the bench....i just don't see the dallas bench being that much better than houston's.

Mavs just have a bunch of former-stars who can't do jack against our defense. Terry will not carve up a team like Nash, and Dirk is just not the same when he has to create everything for himself. Did Marquis Daniels even play? Oh, and JVG brilliantly used KVH's choking self against the mavs. Niiiiiiiiiiiice.

I think alot of those writers, besides the fact their extremly biased, saw Dallas playing a somewhat version of defense since AJ took over for the 1st time they've been writing. So now they all think they can win it all now that "they have the best defense in the league" and Dirk will score 50 points/night.

    what defense???!!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!
the only reason the mavs got close was because the rockets were missing their open jumpers..........when they started hitting them again, they pulled away....
    those writers don't know JACK!!!!!!
