LOL. You know, that's pretty much what I was going to write. That site doesn't talk about men getting fat, uncooth, and lazy, and STILL expecting their wives to do everything and look the same. It's purely a bunch of complaining about their situation that we have no background info on...theres 2 sides to every story.

    great post...

traveling and having nothing to be "tied down to" is something I would never want, but I can't judge someone else. I got married at 21, am now 25, and its been fabulous. I wouldn't have it any other way. But thats just me. Marriage only has to be the right thing for 2 people...

Marriage isn't for everyone but JV and I have been married for over six years and I haven't once wished I wasn't married to him. I have often been relieved not to be dealing with some of the problems a few of my single friends are dealing with. I wish I could say that we have the best marriage of anyone we know but that's really not true, in fact almost everyone we are friends with has a very healthy marriage, struggles and all.

From the actual studies I've heard of: men become happier after they marry. Women become less happy.

Methinks these studies must have missed out on the women down at the gym stomping through their jazzercize class, looking mighty po-ed if you ask me.

This has been a great thread with the hilarious BK posts and one of the best posts I have ever read in DoD's last post.

Thanks, Doc (and the Lowes "master gardener"), for standing up against society for the rest of us single guys.:)

lol. I can't think of anything I'm more black and white on than music. Either it sucks, or it doesn't, and I'll tell you if it sucks.

    What a site that is!

What a bunch of angry people!

DoD's quite right that happiness is controlled by the individual. That a relationship can't give it to you. But it also shouldn't sapp it away from you either. Gotta pick the right girl, guys. And lighten up. Have some fun.

A friend of mine spent 8 months or so, surfing in mexico. He went with his wife, and two girls (both girls under 6). They lived in a camper.

The bnb household is seriously looking at a year long travel. That would be bnb...the misses...and two kids under 4. Hoping to leave in September. Judging from the toys, cars and ivy league pedigrees of many here, i'd say we're a lot less well off financially than many of you. Should that stop us?

I just read about a family that sold everything they owned, and left (yesterday, I think) for a cycle across Canada. Kids are 10 and 12.

I know lots of 20-something singles who rarely take a holiday, or even time off on the weekend. They're fretting about building their retirement nests. Crazy. They're very old. Much older than me...and i've been around a lot longer than they have.

So marriage shouldn't shackle you down. Unless that's your thing ;). It ain't just the married folks lost in the rat race. (and us married folks don't have to pay the 'single supplement' if we travel on a tour!).

And i've always got a date! And my chances of getting lucky are pretty good! And if I'm ever down about the freedoms I've lost by being married, i just look up some of the advise threads here on the bbs....and realize just how good i have it!

My favorite are the Russian women personal ads...this is a real one...

I very cheerful girl from Russian Federation I very much like to be
rolled on the horse and to float in pool. I very much love
a nature and animals.I want to find reliable person with
whom I might create strong and amicable family and who
might support me a difficult minute of my life

What exactly is "rolled on the horse?" :D
