I have a quick question. How is the drive from San Antonio to Houston? On yahoo it says it is 200 miles and over 4 hours. Are there a lot of hills, or mountains? Four hours seems like a long time.

    Thanks

Depends on what part of Houston you are coming from

once you hit Katy ....you are looking at about 2 - 2.5 hours depending on how fast you go

no hills or anything like that

It takes about three hours from Katy to Fiesta Texas, exactly 200 miles. If you go to the riverwalk, it's about 20 miles less.

    Thanks!!!

I am staying either in the Galleria or Downtown. I will be going to/from SA airport area. I usually fly Southwest, between Houston and SA, but I don't feel like sitting in the SA airport for 3.5 hours waiting for my flight back to Florida.

BTW...the Fast Food thead convinced me to try JCI. I have a good Houston food lineup:

    Pappasitos
    Rajin Cajun
    Ottos Burgers
    Luling City BBQ
    Sonic

Good thing I am in town for only a day...I would get fatter than I already am.

It's about 3 hours, MAYBE a little more depending on weather, traffic, etc.

Absolutely no hills at all. I don't even think the road ever winds at all. You could put your car on cruise control, nap for a little while, wake up and you're still on target.

Ive made that drive a bunch of times. 3 hours tops. 2 1/2 if you're going 90 MPH and there's no traffic.

Man, your food list needs some serious tweaking. Taco Cabana & Whataburger have both got to be on there.

    3 hours - about 180 miles.

Nothing worth stopping for unless you have to take a leak or grab a soda and some chips, or gas.....

Its a straight, boring, uneventful drive.

    have fun :p

i make that drive every other weekend. stop by the oakridge smokehouse in schulenburg (exit 674) for some badass beef/buffalo/deer jerky.
as for your food list, take out ragin cajun and goto the seafoode shoppe (westheimer and beltway 8) for the best crawfish in town.

Usually you can make it in 2.5 hours. I've probably driven it 40-50 times. It's the easiest "long drive" you'll ever make. It's pretty much a straight shot, and it's flat most of the time. I like to stop in Schulenberg and visit the Diamond Shamrock if I'm looking to get a drink. If I'm looking to eat, Oakridge is good, and there's a place right across the street from the Diamond Shamrock that serves a killer breakfast.

If you only have 3 hours to live drive from Houston to San Antonio because it will seem like an eternity.

The only plus to it is that it is perfectly acceptable to drive 85 MPH most all of the way. Burns a lot of gas but it's adds a little thrill to an otherwise dullathon.

Depends on what side of Houston you're on.

If you're in Katy, it's less than 3. If you're in Clear Lake it's more than 4.

There's not much to see - scenic wise.

Don't speed in Kingsbury. They'll getcha!!!

Just did it spring break, but I left on a Saturday morning from Pearland to SA and it took just under 3 hours...not a lot of traffic on I-10, but again, it was before 10 a.m.
