That first one is the sorriest list of movies I have ever seen.

The second list, man! Who could dislike the cell? It had Jennifer Lopez!!! And who can argue the truth of Scientology after seeing Battlefield Earth? Any author who can successfully start his own religion on a bet has my respect.

BTW, glad to see the blurbs in your top-10 list. When does the "best of the decade" list come out?

Office Space is great. Too close to my life for comfort.

That Top Ten list is a bit crazy
Seems like the same guys that picks
    up those award shows . . .

For the record Rocketman95, I thought you were nearly dead on. I have yet to see 13 Days and All the Pretty Horses. I hate Costner, and Cormac McCarthy rivets me. I am afraid that the first might give me reason to relinquish my unfounded hatred of any and all post-Bull Durham Costner, and I can't imagine any movie doing Cormac justice. I can't wait for round two on "Oh Brother...".

High Fidelity makes my list, but much lower. I just found Rob a bit too distasteful. I identified with him on many fronts (as a music junky buried under a pile of dated vinyl myself), but I thought Cusack's portrayal was a little too obsessive. Rob was a terminal dumbass, and I too often wanted to smack him. The character in the book had a richer sense of the absurdity of relationships, a steady wry grin if you will. Much more likeable.

    Best soundtrack in years though.

If some of these movies actually came out in the early weeks of 2001, why are they on a list for the year 2000?

Because they are technically 2000 movies. They've been released in New York or Los Angeles or other select cities for Oscar consideration.

I think it's f'in stupid, like people in NY or LA have better taste or something than us Austinites.

gladiator was really good, that would be high on my list for best movies of the year. I still haven't seen remember the titans, which I've heard from friends was a very good movie as well.

Hey RM95, what is your criteria for bad movies? I have seen much worse movies in this last year.

a few that come to mind: the skulls, the 6th day, bless the child, stigmata(I think that was last year) and a lot of teenybopper movies that I can't even remember the names of the titles.

Bless the child was particularly awful. If you want to see a true BAD movie, check that one out.

What are you talking about outlaw? The Klumps was better than the first Nutty Professor.
