I woke up last Tuesday and could barely move my head forward to get up, once I got out of bed my right upper shoulder was sooo stiff I could barely move my right arm in motion or move my head side to side n forward backward.

once I got to work it would loosen up alil (this had happen to me before but it would loosen up and go away in 2-3days) but it has been 8days and my NECK is still stiff in pain when I bend my head foward or scretch my right arm backward. I have put icey/hot pad on that area all week and it would loosen up alil as the day goes on. But everytime I sleep and wake up the shoulder/neck would tighten up and stiff up again the course of the week and the pads never help at all. MY NECK/SHOULDER FEELS like it was last Tues.

Any suggestion beside seeing a Chiro?

    Asian Massage Parlor, my friend.

Seriously, go to a real doctor. They're paid to do this stuff. You may even score some awesome pain medication out of the deal. Don't take it, though - save it for when you're better.

Sounds like a pulled muscle. Probably due to an awkward sleeping position. Happens to me about once a year.

My fault. Didn't see the part about 8 days. That could be serious. The 2 to 3 days thing happens to me about once a year, and is simply a pulled muscle.

When I woke up this morning, the first thing I thought was, "I wonder if anyone with a BBS account woke up with a STIFF NECK/SHOULDER...? If so, I hope they create a thread to inform us all of the condition."

When I woke up this morning, I felt like a million bucks. I made some coffee, took the trash out, put CNBC on, checked my work email/voice mail, and sat down to review the BBS and surf for a few minutes. I am going to get in the shower soon, then get dressed and go to the office.

I will keep you all posted as events warrant.

I see a chiropractor once a month. Keeps eveything aligned.

It's amazing how a pulled muscle can affect the vertebre and then the vertebre in turn ties other muscles around it in knots. A potentially painfull chain reaction.

I would start with ibuprofen. If you take 1-2 it acts as a pain releiver. If you take 3-4, it acts as an anti-inflammatory.

    Or so I've heard.

Woke up in my clothes again this morning
Don't know exactly where I've been
I should heed my Doctors warning
He does the best with me he can

He claims I suffer from delusions
Yet I’m so confident I’m sane
It can’t be no optical illusion
    So how can you explain
    Shadows in the rain
