    16 points (7/11 fg), 5 rebounds, and 3 blocks

    Not bad.

darko also had a pretty sweet alley-oop pass from the top near the 3 pt line to ben wallace

heard though on pti today that brown wants to keep darko off the playoff roster so that they can have darvin hamm. man all i have to say is that this kid will bolt out of detroit asap and if he is as good as he was projected detroit will have no one to blame but themselves for not trying to put him in games even for 10-15mins over his first two seasons.

He played decently. I don't think he's a complete stiff... he ran the floor well (then again, he was probably well-rested, and he was playing against NBDL-quality big men) and he has a nice shooting touch. But he's incredibly soft... he was really timid, especially going for rebounds. His timing was atrocious, too... but then again, he never plays, so how can he get his rythm going?

But honestly, I don't think this guy is worth getting too excited about. His ceiling is a taller Raef Lafrentz - a mobile big man with some offensive weapons, but not a franchise player. But the Pistons have to be kicking themselves for not drafting Bosh, a superstar in the making who really impressed them during workouts.

Bosh? They could have had Wade!

Nobody predicted Wade to be a top two pick. The draft was before the Wallace trade, and Detroit's front-line was much thinner than it is now. Bosh would have been a great addition. Anthony, too --- that was before Prince emerged as their starting small forward.

Darko is a bust who will never be anything in the NBA. But if the Pistons had drafted 'Melo, maybe he disrupts their chemistry (ex: they don't make the trade for 'Sheed') and they don't win the NBA championship last year.

Looked pretty good out there given all the rust. I like his chances after one game. but damn. Only one game. Detroit is better get him on the court soon or the future is gonna get dim fast.

maybe darko is just pulling a joel pzybilla. Wasn't he like just barely 18 when he was drafted? He probably need a few more years to develop his game. I would still take a chance on him.

Rumour had it that coach Larry Brown would prefer to have Davin Ham on the playoffs roster instead of Darko. But who knows now - with this performance Darko could have earned himself a spot. It is obvious that he is not a Larry Brown guy but it will be interesting how Larry and JoeD handle this. When asked if he would make the playoffs roster, Darko retorted "why not". Drama!

All or most indications point to Darko being a bust but it will not be confirmed (it will be premateur) until he gets significant minutes (consistently) in the NBA which looks like it could come as soon as next season with LarryB likely gone.

yeah, i mean the saving grace of that draft for the pistons is that they won the championship. if they didn't win it then you have to point and laugh at them for years but as is what can you really say? they accomplished the ultimate goal. imo if they pick carmelo the pieces don't fall the same and they definitely don't win a ring and maybe they never do with him.

I don't think that people realize how young Darko is. He's only about six months older than Dwight Howard. He's got a lot of potentials. All he needs is an opportunity to play, which he's not getting under Larry Brown. He'll be fine once he gets out of Detroit, or when LB leaves, whichever comes first.

If Darko were drafted by a team other than Detroit, he'd probably be a star by now. He was a better prospect than Pau Gasol at the same age. In fact he was probably the best prospect that ever came out of Europe. He was playing in top Euro league at the age of 17 (which almost never happens). However, as a young player in the NBA you don't develop your game by sitting on the bench (see Jermaine O'neal). What Darko needs now is playing time and he's just not getting it in his current situation.

It's not like we have anything to base this on about Darko. The guy never gets off the bench. He is in many ways another Boki. However i think the guy has some talent if got some playing time.

He has had a few years..of sitting on the bench and that's how Larry Brown does it. Unless he gets a fair shake we can't call him a bust...he is being labeled a bust and he hasn't had a chance to prove anything which is not completly fair.

Larry Brown is killing this guy's value. Did he forget how to coach college prospects?

At least we know if Larry Brown had come to the Rockets...Boki wouldn't have been playing either :D

Gasol wasn't a great prospect when he was 18.He wasn't even a starter in the Under-18 Spanish National Team.So yes,Darko was a wayyy better prospect at the same age.
But Darko was not playing in a top Euro league. He was playing in the Serbian league, and it's a weak league in Europe. It's not even a top 6 or 7 league in Europe.
So I think Darko wouldn't be a star right now if he was drafted bu other team, not even close.
