MVP: Shaq, hands down, different team with out him.
    Rookie: Okafor......consistant all year.
6th Man: Dikembe Mutumbo.....ok I'm a homer, but he does deserve some credit. Ben Gordan is the real pick.
Coach: Rick Carsile......have you seen that roster?? The fact that Fred Jones carried that team for a while......think about it.
D-POY: How about Larry Hughes?? He led the L in steals
Most Improved: I'd love to give it to Grant Hill, but its a most improved, not comeback. That's why I give it to Bobby Simmons of the Clip Joint

MVP: Shaq, the discrepancy in records between the Heat this year and last year coupled with the discrepancy in records between the Lakers this year and last year seals the deal for me.

ROY: Emeka Okafor, because who saw the Bobcats winning 17 games this year? Gordon is really good, but pretty one-dimensional.

Sixth Man: Ben Gordon; those fourth quarter statistics are just sick.

Coach: Rick Carlisle; after the brawl, I would have picked the Pacers as a lottery team. Instead, they're over .500 and going to the playoffs.

Defensive Player: Marcus Camby; the way the Rockets destroyed the Nuggets in the paint without him is pretty indicative of what he brings to the table.

Most Improved: Toss-up between Bobby Simmons and Dwyane Wade.

MVP: T-mac, because McGrady has just been the best player in basketball. I think he has more 4 point play than any other NBA player. And when he gets it going, you cannot stop him!

ROY: Emeka Okafor, I just like big men who can score, rebound, and block shot consistently.

Sixth Man: Ben Gordon, he comes in and changes the game.

Coach: D'antoni, his team has the best record.

    Defensive Player: I don't know.

Most Improved Player: Vince Carter

since i see this so much, i have to ask:

am i the only one who noticed that the lakers also lost two other HOFers from last year's team as well? am i the only one that noticed how differently they played just when karla got injured last year? and am i the only one who noticed how many more injuries the lakers had this year combined with the coaching situation? it seems so.

and am i the only one who noticed miami made the 2nd round last year and was already the 3rd best team in the east by season's end? and am i the only one who noticed how good dwyane wade was already before shaq got there.

it's kind of the same thing with nash. did no one else notice phoenix had injuries last year, or that amare got better, or that they signed Q?

it's not like shaq leaving destroyed the lakers. while it may have been the biggest thing, a ton of other things conspired to take them down. they were solidly over .500 until everything went to crap. and it's not like shaq took the heat from horrible team to champion. they went from good east team to dominant east team.

and nash didn't singlehandedly save the suns.

however, considering how badly the suns played when nash missed that stretch of games and considering shaq's numbers are only 22.9 and 10.6, i have a hard time thinking shaq should get an mvp out of this. i mean if you only put up 23 and 10, no matter how much more dominant than your stats you are, and your team is a contender, then it's pretty clear your not solely responsible. hell, he doesn't even have wade's stats.

not that nash scoring 16 ppg makes me think mvp but the only three guys with real mvp numbers are garnett (14 boards, 6 asts with 1.5 steals and blocks each), iverson (30/8/2.5 stl) and lebron (27/7/7/2.3) and they all either didn't or barely made the playoffs. so considering the performance when he played versus when he didn't i have to give it to nash.

Phoenix had the biggest turnaround. Dallas traded for another good point in Jason Terry and everyone else on their team stepped their game up. Of course the Lakers record was ruined. They lost Payton, Fisher, Malone, Shaq, Phil, and were bit by the injury bug. The main problem the Lakers faced is that none of them had any pride. They were great when they kept their opponents under a 100 points. Unfortunately, nobody on their team played any defense. DWade is the best player on that team. Last year the Heat went to the 2nd round last year after starting like 0 - 7. Shaq also can't get the ball at the end of games because he doesn't know how to hit a free throw.

MVP: Steve Nash (Phoenix 0-5 without, 62-15 with)
ROY: Emeka Okafor & Ben Gordon(Both deserve it)
6th Man: Ben Gordon(Reason Gordon doesn't win ROY)
COY: D'Antoni (Carlisle deserves it too)
    MIP: DWade
Defensive POY: Tim Duncan (missing those 16 games may cost him)

All the MVP candidates should be on the

    All NBA First Team.

C - Shaq (hands down still the most dominant)
F - Dirk (also an MVP candidate for what hes done with that team)
F - KG (his stats are incredible top 5 in so many categories)
    G - AI (scoring champ)
G - SNash (also an MVP candidate, but his team didnt do to bad without him except when he missed his first 3 games, after that any games he missed they did just fine and we keep regurgitating what analysts have said)

    All NBA Second Team

C - Yao (second best center in the league offense and defense)
F - SMarion (I think he is MVP of that team)
    F - Duncan (nuff said)
G - Tmac (turned it on a lil too late if we raced out of the gate he would be MVP)
G - Lebron (had an awesome year stat wise)

All NBA Third Team (seem more one dimensional but still good)

C - MCamby (also in consideration for DPOY honors)
F - Amare (unbelievable year scoring but doesnt add much else)
F - BWallace (also one dimensional but in consideration for DPOY)
    G - RAllen (awesome shooter)
G - DWade (should get some votes for MIP)
