http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/powerranking?season=2005&week=24 7 (8) Rockets 49-31 Postseason success, of course, is what really matters for T-Mac, who has never won a playoff series. But 50 wins would be nice, too. T-Mac's previous teams have never topped 45-37.
THAT'S IT !! You have got to be kidding! The Heat just lost 4 in a row in against teams in the sorry ass Eastern Conference and they're ranked above us!! We won five games in a row , ended the Nuggets winning streak, and beat some playoff teams like Memphis and Seattle. Unbelievable!!
Yes we should be ranked higher, but i think there banking on the fact that Shaq is just jogging out there...... But i think we shouldve atleast been in at #6
Everyone is making Camby to be a mini MDE. The fact people refuse to accept is that Denver is a little overrated. They caught a huge momentum with Georgy's arival, rode the wave of that push coupled with a soft schedule and that made them look better than they really are. We would have beaten them by double digits if Marcus played last Saturday. The Spurs will easily dispatch them in the first round and bring them back to earth.
Man, if we win the championship I'm going to be so pissed that we failed to crack the top 5 in the ESPN Power Rankings.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/standings That's all you need. Ever. I think this is only the 3rd or 4th time I've ever opened a thread about power rankings. Who cares???
Sports Illustrated was so impressed by our 3-0 week that they dropped us 2 spots to #9. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writers/marty_burns/04/18/final/index.html
I'm never reading that feature again. Actually to be accurate I should say "I'm still never going to start reading that feature ever. "
Yep. It's official, I will no longer read the Power Rankings. I can't believe I was looking forward to seeing where we moved up to.
We are about to settle the respect issue once and for all with the national media... ON THE COURT IN THE PLAYOFFS!
It's totally disrespectful...but Its all too familar. We felt the same way this time back in 95'.......the so called "experts" doubting the squad. I'm ready to shock the world...again
If we win the championship my little bet is going to make me $3000.00 I will dontate $ 100.00 to the tip jar. !
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/basketball/nba/2005-04-18-court-coverage_x.htm Here's something good- we're the TEAM OF THE WEEK according to David Dupree in USA Today. And we got ranked in the Top 5 ! Team of the week Houston Rockets: With two games left before the playoffs, the Rockets took control of fifth place in the West with their fifth consecutive win Saturday, 115-87 against the Denver Nuggets. The Rockets ended the Nuggets' 10-game winning streak and held them to their lowest point production since George Karl took over as coach. The Rockets hold a tiebreaker over the Nuggets, who are in seventh, and the Sacramento Kings, who are tied with Houston for fifth. Tracy McGrady has averaged 30.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and six assists during Houston's winning streak, and Yao Ming has averaged 18.4 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.8 blocked shots. The Rockets beat the Los Angles Lakers, Phoenix Suns and Seattle SuperSonics on the road and the Memphis Grizzlies and Nuggets at home. Houston also shot 44.7% (46 of 103) from three-point range during the streak. "I think the last few games have been a good chance for us to play our game," Yao said. "(The Denver game) was a good way for us to prepare for the pressure that we will see in the playoffs." USA TODAY Top 10 (Through Saturday's games; last week's ranking in parentheses) 1. Phoenix (1): If Suns win their last two games, they will have 34 more wins than last season. 2. Detroit (4): The best in the league at making playing ugly work. 3. San Antonio (3): Pickup of Glenn Robinson could turn out to be valuable. 4. Dallas (5):Jerry Stackhouse and Keith Van Horn are the highest scoring bench duo. 5. Houston (7): Rockets can run, defend, shoot the threes and pound the ball inside. 6. Miami (2): Might be taking it a little too easy; lost four in a row. 7. Denver (6): Nuggets' 23-3 record since the All-Star Break has teams seeded above a bit nervous. 8. Chicago (8): Injuries and youth could be too much to overcome for the overachieving Bulls in the playoffs, but they sure have shown a lot of guts. 9. Seattle (9): Getting most of their injured players back but still uncertain about Vladimir Radmanovic (stress fracture, right leg). 10. Sacramento (10): Kings averaged 120 points a game in four-game winning streak before Saturday loss at Phoenix.
