    only when i drive.

then i'm pretty sure my picture is under the secondary definition.

everything pisses me off when i drive. but nothing more than slow drivers. i drive almost exclusively in the fast lane. now i only go about 7 to 8 mph over the speed limit on the hwy, but in austin that means you have to be in the fast lane whereas in houston i can generally stay in the middle lanes. i cannot stand people who will not get over. i give people a reasonable amount of time to move. if the next lane is crowded i can understand not moving, but when it is free and clear and you hog the fast lane going exactly the speed limit, you piss me off. and i will tail people. and i'll tail them even if i could try to pass to the right just to "teach them a lesson." of course most of the time you can't pass to the right b/c it would be hard to pass the person before you come up on the next car in the right lane.

the other people i hate are the people who feel the need to pass someone and move over into the fast lane right in front of me going a good 5-8 mph slower than me. and then they have the nerve to stay in the fast lane after they've passed. i should be able to whip a shotgun out and blow them away for the good of society.

same goes for people who take forever to take off at left turns as others have mentioned.

like Manny, i drive aggressive but i pay a great deal of attention to what i'm doing. i notice when people may be about to switch lanes so i don't get in their blind spot. i watch to see if someone wants to pass me and move over if i can. if someone looks like they need to pass in the left lane i might slow down to let them in or if we're kind of even i'll speed up so they don't have to wait as long. i try to be as nice and have as much driver's etiquette as possible but when people don't reciprocate b/c they're either too lost in their own world or they're just jackasses i get pissed off.

now i'm already thinking about all the people that are gonna be in my way tomorrow.

I was with my friend once, and he pulled out in front of this middle-aged (probably 40 or so) guy, and I guess the guy thought he cut him off. The guy starts acting childish, and sped up and passed us, on a 4-lane road, and got right in front of us, and slowed his car to about 5 miles an hour. Literally. He did this for about 20 seconds, so my friend passed him, and flipped him off. The guy started following us, and staring at us, so we drove past the police station(a good 3 miles or so from where we were). He followed us until we were about a block or two from the police station. The scary thing is that the guy looked just like Luigi.

Heh, one jackass pissed me off once. I was at a light paying no attention to anything or anyone. Suddenly the guy next to me speeds off for some reason and pulls up ahead of me...and starts slowing down for no reason....

I try switching lanes...so does he, finally...I move back to the original lane on the right....and he moves back again....finally I slow to almost a crawl...and he goes off a good 100 feet ahead of me.

I hit the gas and get up some speed (about 50-60 by the time I catch up to him), and I am headed right for his rear bumper....at the last second I switch lanes...then RIGHT when I pass him up I switch back in front of him and SLAM on the brakes....

I then keep him to a slow 15 mph for a good 2-3 minutes before he finally turns into some neighborhood nearby along the way. Probably waited for a few seconds while i wasn't in range anymore and finally kept going. Looking through the window when I passed him up, it looked like some 16 year old punk. (Well, I was 17 at the time....but that's not the point)

    :)

That's my "only been driving 5 years road rage" story

okay...i've had several experiences...mostly other drivers...but i'll share mine first and then one memorable one with another driver getting road rage on me.

    firstly - me...
...i was driving home from work one day and i was stuck behind a red corolla going around 30km/hr in a 50km/hr zone. so i was flashing my brights and swerving from side to side, there was nobody in front of him for as long as my eyes could see, but steady traffic coming the other way, so i couldn't pass. anyways, after 5-10 minutes of my brights and my honking, i finally got around him and sped up to 70km/hr only to have him follow me at that speed with his brights on while he swerved behind me and held the middle finger. he was an older guy, maybe 50 or something, and i was 19 at the time - we stopped at a light...so when it went green i waited the whole light until it went yellow and then i went through leaving him to have to wait one more light. :)

i've also outrun the cops a few times, but those aren't really road rage, those are a different issue.

nextly, my favorite story of somebody having road rage against me...
...i was driving home from work last summer - and i was in a hurry to get home for some reason or another. so i was speeding - going 120 in a 70 zone (kilometres/hr). there was a truck following me at a distance the whole time, but not coming within reach of passing me in the other lane or anything (two lanes going one way). anyways, he can tell i'm going a fast pace, i can tell he's not going faster than me...but there's a red light. he pulls from behind me and moves into the lane beside me, obviously pissing me off before the light even goes green, because i know i don't wanna be stuck behind him and i know he's not driving faster than me, but wants to pass me...oh, and the two lanes merge into one just on the other side of the light. so the light goes green, i step on it, he steps on it...we are both exactly beside each other and his lane is pretty much running out - for some reason i decided to slam on the breaks and let him in, probably because i didn't think he would stop before his lane ran out and i didn't wanna see him hit the barrier. so he pulls into my lane, but is pretty outta control from the abrupt swerve, he kind of fishtaled into the median and immediately his tire popped - sending his hubcap flying into oncoming traffic and him counterswerving back into the other side and crashing into a pole. i pulled over, rolled down my window - and asked the man (about 30 years old) if he needed a phone, he said "yeah," i held mine up and said, "well, i guess it's too bad you were an ******* back there then, eh? you stupid f***" and i drove away. felt damn good doing it too.

Road rage just isn't worth it. People carry guns in their cars around here. Besides, you can't control what other people do. The best thing to do if somebody does something stupid ahead of you is slow down, move away, and keep those pleasant road rage thoughts to yourself.

well...for some reason i've always known i could get away and outmaneuver them. they were standing outside of their vehicle each time, pointing at me to pull over - as they caught me with the radar gun, so i felt like it was an easy escape - pretend to pull over, then ditch right and call a friend within 5 minutes of me that had a garage that i could park in. honestly, the first time i ever saw a cops lights go on and him point at me, i ran because i didn't know what to do, hell, i don't even think i was speeding. but after i got away that once, i just don't think i'll ever get caught.

but yeah, you'll probably see a thread one of these days saying, "cops beat me down and shot me for trying to run."

    My latest driving pet peeves:

    1. Idiots at the front of the line who decide that when the left-hand turn lane light turns green, they're going to accelerate at the lowest possible rate.

1a. People who make turns about 18 times slower than they need to.

    2. Idiots driving big SUVs who have to take the railroad tracks going 1.5 mph.

    3. Idiots trying to merge onto the freeway or change lanes, yet they never accelerate or slow down based on the situation. They just stay in that lane with their turn signal on and then at the last minute, decide to get over.

    4. Idiots who ignore yield signs, then flip you off when they almost hit you.

    5. Idiots who think their time is more valuable than your's as they rush to the front and cut in line in front of people who have been waiting legally and patiently.

    6. Chris Berman. I know it's not related to driving, but if I hear his "whoop" during his B.S. Top 10 "plays" again, I'm going to get television rage. :D

    That's all. :)

I use mine when I drive, but it never affects my driving. Unless it makes me accidentally get on the Westpark Tollway without an EZ Tag. :D

I forgot those on my list. That happens to me every single day that I'm out on the road. Another thing I hate is those people who, for example, are turning right in the right lane but always have to unnecessarily do this swerve of their car over left just before turning right. When they swerve, they usually cross the divider between lanes so you have to watch out that they don't swerve into your car. I guess they feel this swerve is necessary so they won't clip the curb when turning but, if they knew how to turn in the first place, clipping the curb would never be an issue.

There are so many stupid drivers out on the road that it kind of makes this entire discussion pointless. It's just there and we have to deal with it. It's why road rage exists in the first place. If everyone could follow a few simple rules, then there would be a lot less road rage. But, it's never going to happen cause....cause this is America and anything goes.

I don't call it "Road Rage," I call it my stress reduction mechanism.

Seriously, the actual cause of stress is keeping frustration bottled up. When you bottle it up, you end up causing yourself all kinds of issues that can include heart problems, high blood pressure, elevated heart rate, and even impotence  .

When you let your frustration out, even if it is only to scream obscenities from the safety and privacy of your vehicle, you end up doing yourself a favor in the long run. The key is to keep said frustration from getting out of the vehicle and starting a confrontation that could cause worse short term health problems than the stress from keeping it bottled up could ever cause.

I find that by loosing tirades of expletives at the morons who invariably crowd the roads (I call them the SSMFA for Stupid Slow MFs of America), I walk in my front door refreshed and free of all thoughts of the idiot drivers that mass on the roadways.

Now if I could find someplace completely private at work, my stress level would reduce even more dramatically...

Meh, I've so mellowed out since I first started driving. There isn't too much that affects me. When other drivers try to deliberately antagonize me for one reason or another, I usually end up boring them and they move on to some other poor schlub.

The only thing that irks me occasionally is tailgating. I start slowing down if they are riding me too hard, and if they really annoy me I'll block them from passing for a while, but that's rare. Usually I just slow down and then accelerate back to my normal speed to create the buffer that I like.

Yeah, I don't really get that. I was doing 55 as I got into in the exit lane heading to campus last night and this Corvette decided to ride my ass. I sped up to 90 to give myself some space and then eased off to slow down for the exit-- and the guy sped up to make sure he was still tailgating me the whole way. I think his point was, "How DARE that car speed up? Doesn't the driver realize I'M MAKING A POINT HERE BY TAILGATING HIM? I DRIVE A CORVETTE, NO ONE IS EVER ALLOWED TO BE IN FRONT OF ME".

See I didn't get the memo that said not to ever be in front of Corvettes. I thought that if you needed to get off the freeway, had 25 feet of clearance, put your blinker on, and got over in a purposeful manner while driving the speed limit, it was OK. Luckily this guy was nice enough to try to teach me the rules.

Unfortunately I was not in the mood to learn, so I reacted somewhat truculently. I says to myself I says, "Well, BK, if he doesn't like you going 55 or 90 maybe you should try something else", so I slowed down to 20. He didn't like that either. There is just no pleasing some people.

This guy was really cool, too. You could tell, because he ran a stop sign on West Campus. That's always a cool thing to do with all the pedestrians and cyclists out there. And the way he didn't pay attention to traffic in his lane and had to slam on the brakes twice to avoid hitting stopped cars in front of him. A sign of coolness, no doubt. I mean that happens when you're more concerned with getting in front of/cutting off the guy in the right lane who you'd tailgated. I mean, YOU HAVE to make your authority known; first he drives on the road in front of you, THEN he slows down when you tailgate him. HE MUST BE TAUGHT A LESSON WITH YOUR POWERFUL CHEVROLET. Smashing up your "Ask Me About My Experiences With Cialis"-mobile is a small price to pay.

How dare you call me an idiot!

I laugh at all you fools who wait in line so patiently. I get in the right lane, pass you all up, and wait for some pushover to let me in. I usually don't ever have a problem cutting in, because there's always some 18 wheeler or some granny who takes forever to accelerate, creating enough space for me to move into your line. I can't even begin to tell you how much time this saves for me.
