LYRICS, BECAUSE HE WONT'T MAKE IT PAST THIS ROUND] Excuse me mr. Do you have the time Or are you so important That it stands still for you Excuse me mr. Lend me your ear Or are you not only blind But do you not hear Excuse me mr. Isn’t that your oil in the sea And the pollution in the air mr. Whose could that be Excuse me mr. But I’m a mister too And you’re givin’ mr. a bad name Mr. like you So I’m taking the mr. From out in front of your name Cause it’s a mr. like you That puts the rest of us to shame It’s a mr. like you That puts the rest of us to shame And I’ve seen enough to know That I’ve seen too much Excuse me mr. Can’t you see the children dying You say that you can’t help them Mr. you’re not even trying Excuse me mr. Take a look around Mr. just look up And you will see it’s comin’ down Excuse me mr. But I’m a mister too And you’re givin’ mr. a bad name Mr. like you So I’m taking the mr. From out in front of your name Cause it’s a mr. like you That puts the rest of us to shame It’s a mr. like you That puts the rest of us to shame And I’ve seen enough to know That I’ve seen too much So mr. when you’re rattling On heaven’s gate Let me tell you mr. By then it is too late Cause mr. when you get there They don’t ask how much you saved All they’ll want to know, mr. Is what you gave Excuse me mr. But I’m a mister too And you’re givin’ mr. a bad name Mr. like you So I’m taking the mr. From out in front of your name Cause it’s a mr. like you That puts the rest of us to shame It’s a mr. like you That puts the rest of us to shame [/BEN HARPER "EXCUSE ME MR." Sheryl Crow Paul Simon Pete Townshend Leonard Cohen Stevie Wonder Bonnie Raitt Paul McCartney Bob Marley George Harrison Ben Harper Aretha Franklin Rod Stewart Kate Bush James Brown Lou Reed Billy Bragg Peter Gabriel Prince All of these artists have released an album in the last 20 years, to the best of my recollection. What is your issue again?
Bracket A: 1) Elvis Presley why is sheryl crow in this? 8) Tom Waits one of the best concerts i ever saw was at town lake in austin. the sun was setting, i was lit up like a christmas tree and stevie ray came onstage pimping a tan leather suit and his trade-mark hat with feather. the whole crowd was one with him as he kicked the **** into the night. however, THERE IS NO WAY ON GOD"S GREEN EARTH THAT HE IS BETTER THAN TOM WAITS. do you guys who are voting for stevie ray even know who tom waits is? just curious, i'd love to hear an explaination as to how SRV is better. 5) Paul Simon 13) Donovan 11) Otis Redding 3) Stevie Wonder 7) Paul McCartney 2) Bob Marley Bracket C: 1) Jimi Hendrix 9) Aretha Franklin 5) Rod Stewart 4) James Brown 6) Buddy Holly 14) Billy Bragg, because zappa and the mother's of invention were more of a concept, a thing. yeah i know frank was the architectof it all but i go with mr. bragg. 10) Van Morrison 2) Prince
Bracket A: 1) Elvis Presley A brutal pairing... just brutal! 16) Sheryl Crow 8) Tom Waits I loved Stevie, but have to go with Waits. 9) Stevie Ray Vaughn 5) Paul Simon 12) Pete Townshend Another one of those silly times when both artists shouldn't be judged just on their solo material. Simon, with Garfunkel, has an incredible body of work. Pete, with the Who, is equally brilliant... just completely different. Tie. 4) Leonard Cohen ...was lucky enough to sit on the side of Castle Hill, in Austin, when it was covered with little cottages reached by steps from the street. Cohen got loaded with a couple of dozen of us and just played. I'll never forget it. 13) Donovan ...he can do that weird thing with his voice in concert, and was quite good. 6) Jim Croce 11) Otis Redding 3) Stevie Wonder Based on being a longtime fan, I'd pick Bonnie, but Wonder is just brilliant. 14) Bonnie Raitt 7) Paul McCartney 10) Jerry Lee Lewis With the Beatles, it wouldn't be close. As a solo artist, have to go with Lewis. 2) Bob Marley 15) George Harrison A tie. I lean towards Marley, but then I remember listening to My Sweet Lord in Grindalwald, Switzerland, when it came out, and I was having one of the best times of my life. Bracket C: 1) Jimi Hendrix No explanation necessary. Well, I could say a lot, but I'll shut up for now. 16) Ben Harper 8) Nick Drake 9) Aretha Franklin 5) Rod Stewart Based on his work with Beck and the Faces. The other stuff makes me puck. I'm sure I should listen more to Bush. 12) Kate Bush 4) James Brown 13) Cat Stevens Never forget listening to Wild World when it meant a great deal to me. 6) Buddy Holly 11) Lou Reed Anyone want to see just how brilliant Lou is? Listen to Berlin. 3) Frank Zappa Who the hell is Bragg?? 14) Billy Bragg 7) Peter Gabriel 10) Van Morrison Like them both, going with Van. 2) Prince 15) Warren Zevon Price? Prince?

I guess I should see what the second half of the bracket looks like, but, with the exception of Sheryl Crow, none of them would have been considered "current" for the last fifteen years, at least.
