Could he be the 5th starter dark horse? Someone mentioned his name in another thread and on looking him up I found out that he indeed has a legit shot at it. As we expect a formal announcement today, tomorrow or thereabout, I will not be surprised to hear his number called up... So far for RoundRock, his stats stand out.....in two starts... Code: 2.45 ERA 2-0 W-L record 11.0 innings pitched. 13.0 strikeouts 8 hits, 4 walks and zero HR allowed.
He also pitched 5 perfect innings against the Astros at MMP a couple of weeks ago. Of course, that's not saying much.
Knowing what we know now abour our hitting that does not say much indeed But then again we are talking about the 5th slot. Anyone or anything but Duckworth will suffice.
Yea... I was the one who brought it up. I was mainly doing it because he has been pretty solid over the last 2 weeks (including the start against the Astros, and in his first AAA start), and whenever Garner is broached about the topic of the 5th starter, they talk about Zeke... but then he always makes sure to throw in Wandy's name, saying that he deserves a lot of praise as well. Wandy is a lefty... and lefties w/ good stuff can always be successful in this leauge (more likely than righties with good stuff).
I can't wait for some sluggers on bad teams come available. The sooner the better. We have the trade bait.
He is in the same team with Wandy i.e. AAA Roundrock and with 2 starts..... Code: 3.55 ERA 0-1 W-L record 12.2 innings pitched. 9.0 strikeouts 8 hits, 2 walks and 2 HR allowed. Interestingly the best ERA on that team is owned by Gothreaux (0.69 ERA) with 2 starts under his belt.
Wandy R pitched on Wednesday so I don't think he would come back and pitch on Sunday with only 3 days rest. According to Baseball America, Astacio is penciled in to start tonight for Round Rock. That leaves Duckworth as the most likely Astro starter on Sunday. He has only pitched one inning back on the 9th. I saw him warming up in either last night's game or the game before, I can't remember which, but most likely to get some work in for his Sunday start.
Astacio went 7 for RR on Tuesday. Doubt he's pitching tonight and it'd be perfect rest for him to start Sunday in Cincinnati.
baseballamerica.com is reporting it under scoreboard pacific coast league - scoreboard scroll down to the round rock game they list probables as Astacio vs Tamayo But you are right, he pitched Tuesday so he wouldn't be going tonight.
