I think this is absolutely unbelievable when you consider we have scored the least runs in the National League. I'm about as big of an Astros fan as they come, but I don't see any way that we are the 5th best team in baseball right now. I'm just hoping the Astros can stay afload long enough for Berkman to make it back (and long enough for Garner to realize Everett can't lead off and Ausmus can't hit). http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writers/dan_george/04/13/power.rankings/index.html?cnn=yes 5- Houston Astros Coming back from elbow surgery, Andy Pettitte looked sharp last week against the Cards. His velocity still needs work, though. After an 84 mph fastball, the word "Change" flashed on the scoreboard. Ouch.
There is no way we're 5...must be a typo...I agree we have a great starting rotation, but the bullpen, as evident last night, is questionable...
we are #5 because we were 3 and 1 when it went to print and Pettitte just pitched great.....we will be #11-15 or so after this week when they realize that we have the least amt of runs scored in the league
Thats what I thought too, but it was posted last night and updated today. They even talk about the Angels having gone 4-2 against Texas so it has to be up to date.
oh...then i stand corrected...i figured you were talking about the magazine......i have no idea why they would rank us 5th
The game last night was completely the fault of the offense. The bullpen gave up 1 run in 3 1/3 innings. The winning run scored on a "bleeder" up the middle. So far the bullpen has given up 6 earned runs in 20 innings. I'll certainly take that (so would every major leage team) over the course of the year.
people still don't seem to understand: Pitching wins championships. Not to mention a lot of games in the regular season. As long as our pitching keeps it up, I would not be surprised if we hover around 5, at least top 10. As long as we're higher than the Scrubs I'm happy.
The only thing questionable last night was our offense. Our bullpen did a great job. You get 3 perfect innings out of your pen you'd usually come out on top.
