Even though its most likely going to be either Nash or Shaq thats going to win the MVP award I think T-mac should be up there with the both of them. It annoys me that NBA analysts are so arrogant to look at other players in the league who have helped their team in the same way. To me an MVP is a player who can play good on both sides of the court and thats why I dont think Nash should win the award. Besides look at the players that are around Nash and compare them to the players around T-mac. Mcgrady has won so many games for us this year, plays good D, is in the top 5 in scoring, and he also had that amazing 13 pts in 35 sec to win the game for us. I'm not saying T-mac is the MVP but I believe he should have a shot at it.
He should get consideration but thats about it (and probably will) Usually players on teams with the top records get the MVP
As long as Lebron is not mentioned as a candidate, or gets any votes, I will be fine with T-Mac not getting consideration for MVP. It is not between Shaq and Nash, it is between Shaq and himself Shaq will EASILY run away with it, mark my words. BTW, just a sidenote, but this topic has been beaten to death in past threads.
i feel you man. t-mac will get all the mvp talk when its too late, when the rockets have marched through the west in late april and may. thats when the knew-it-alls will sound the spring trumpet and say the tmac is coming the tmac is coming. but it'll be too late by then and their mouths will still be big and full of bularky and they'll still be the same loud talking analysts who knew what every other analysts knew next to him. but right has a way of taking care of itself and they'll be sipping drinks in some run-down hotel lobby in ny with peter vescey in no time talking about the good ole days when they knew jack **** and got paid for it.
t-mac is not going to get mvp but he should definitely be considered ahead of lebron who STILL has his name up there despite an average season by the cavs. placing in one of the final seeds in the east does not make you an mvp candidate. shaq will win it though you could make a case for a number of people.
Nash has to much talent around him to win it. Shaq only has Flash. That's why he'll get MVP. T-Mac won't win because we weren't a good team untill all the adjustments were made to fit Yao and him. No adjustments were neccessary for Shaq. He just threw on the jersey and played. But if the Heat win it all, i see Flash winning the Finals MVP.
I hope that Tmac does not win the MVP. I want to see that chip on the shoulder type of play that Hakeem had the year he was slighted. Tmac knows he's good and itching to prove it. He has a good team, it's now or never and he knows that too. Watch out during the playoffs. We better hope not to get that MVP trophy because Tmac will get soft. In fact, I hope they give it to Nash just before they play for the WC championship.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4401763/ McGrady currently rated 5th in an interactive poll place your votes . .
Huh?! What do you mean "it's now or never"?! It is only the first year him and Yao play together, they have a looong way to go and will play together for years to come. So be patient, they are still too young to win it all. Certainly, Yao has to become a superstar in this league before the Rockets have a realistic chance of winning it all, and Yao's prime is still 2-3 years from now. Oh, and don't worry, T-Mac won't get the MVP for sure, we are merely talking about consideration, not winning it. Shaq is a lock for it, there isn't much competition out there. Iverson will get consideration, but he definitely won't be ahead of Shaq, Nash, Duncan, Dirk, etc.
It's even stupid to talk about this. It doesn't matter if he gets MVP. Everybody knows T-mac is huge for Rockets. It's more important for him to help Rockets get as deep as they can. You are MVP when MVP is due.
It's not too late for TMac. If we somehow wins the championship and I'm sure Tmac will become a final MVP.
] i reallly dont understand what your talking about but let me think about that one...it's bit of a chore to think when i cant get this da glyde dude out my head saying AI should get the mvp and mcgrady should get more of the spotlight. aim the freaking spotlight right on da glyde so i can beat the living hell out of him. i mean goddman. So AI needs to the get the mvp so mcgrady can get the spotlight? da glyde,, you're doing this on purpose arent you. my ribs are hurting.
Shaq is the MVP this year hands down. Miami severely overachieved last year, yet by replacing two of their starters with Shaq they were able to contend for the best record in the league with only the second year Wade as the other "star" of that team. Shaq makes the entire team much better than they are without him and has even made Udonis Haslem look like a very good PF. Shaq in a walk this year, but look out for an MVP performance from T-Mac in 2005-06.
A player who also gets suprisingly little mention would be Dirk. He's 4th in scoring, 8th in rebounding, still gets over 3 assists per game, blocks over 1.5 shots a game, shoots over 45% from 2 and over 40% from 3. What's more, if Nash is so special, shouldn't the Mavs have fallen apart because he left?? Insted, the Mavs are probably a better team, because their defense has improved. Dirk, though, like Nash, has too much other talent around him. Dwayne Wade is good, but he nobody could have predicted his season. Haslem, ok, good athlete, but c'mon. Making Eddie Jones a good player again. It's going to Shaq-fu.
I think Shaq should win it all this year, but T-Mac will be in that 2nd tier of players that get the 2nd-5th place votes but no 1st place votes. Will there be anyone that gets 1st place votes besides Shaq & Nash? Maybe one for Dirk, Amare, or LeBron.
Fans who can go to the game should start chanting "MVP", that at least will get the media notice him.
