JVG is ALWAYS complementary to the other team, whether it be a first round matchup in the Sonics, or a cellar-dweller like the Hornets or Warriors.
The Seattle coach is just preparing some excuses for their first round elimination by the Rockets ....
After seeing Tracy and Yao (way to play BIG, big fella!! ) completely dominate the Sonics, and how Yao just seems to have his way with them, he needs the practice. Can't we play the Sonics in the 1st round? Please? Pretty please?? We've got a chance at it... come on, Rocks! Seattle in the 1st round! Yaaoooooooo!!!!
truth and reality says that yao is a beast in mcmillan's eyes. this season against seattle he is 24 ppg 8.7 rpg 2.67 bpg 1.7 apg 1.0 spg in only 33 mins and is shooting .615 from the field and .889 from the line.
it's all about consistency. Yao is not nearly consistent enough to be considered a dominant player. a dominant player is not effected by a style of defense his opponents play or a style of game they play and on too many nights Yao Ming is. Yao Ming can be dominate but i think the conditions have to be just right, and the less they have to be right, the less whats going on outside of himself matters, and the more he can thrive in any style of play and circumstances, the closer he will be to being a truly dominant player.
Well thats cause we have been known to go to sleep against those "cellar-dweller" teams and get our a$$es beat by the likes of the Warriors, Hornets, Bobcats, Hawks, Raptors...
Rockets get : Vlad Radmanovic + lifetime of free Starbucks coffee Sonics get : Yao Ming + big bag of cash TRADE ACCEPTED
per 48 minutes: Shaq: 32.1 points,14.8 rebs, 3.35 blocks,34.66 efficiency rating Yao: 28.5 points ,13 rebs 3.04 blocks ,31.88 efficiency rating Shaq plays better man on man D, Yao plays better peremeter and pick'n roll defense. Yao is still not at Shaq's level yet, but not as far behind as some people here claimed to be.
It's not just his stamina, it's also his ability to stay out of foul trouble. If he could just stay on the court an extra 5 minutes per game, what a difference it would make.
