You have to register to receive email solicitations in order to read. Can you post it?

Who does he have the Titans picking? I was reading the Titans' board the other day and he has the Titans picking one of the three plum RBs (Brown, Benson, Williams) if any of them should fall to #6 because Chris Brown while talented is injury-prone.

Okay, I registered. Antrelle Rolle for the Titans ... with Benson still left on the board for them.

    Try this:

Rick Gosselin's mock NFL draft (4/10)

Bill Parcells won two Super Bowls in New York with a suffocating defensive front seven. He's been a few pieces short of dominance up front in his two seasons in Dallas. So look for Parcells to load up on big defensive bodies in a 2005 draft where quality defensive linemen are scarce.

Demarcus Ware at 11 would give the Cowboys the best outside speed rusher in the draft, and Marcus Spears at 20 would give them a wide body who can line up at strongside end in either a 4-3 or 3-4 defensive front.

The draft will be heavy on offense at the top with two quarterbacks, three running backs and two wide receivers projected in the top 10. But this is one of the deepest cornerback boards ever, and three should go early. NFL teams can draft quality corners into the fifth round.

But if you want defensive linemen with a chance to contribute, you'd better grab them early, which is what Parcells figures to do. Here's the first mock draft from The Dallas Morning News:

    No. Team Player Pos. School

    1. San Francisco Aaron Rodgers QB California
    2. Miami Ronnie Brown HB Auburn
    3. Cleveland Braylon Edwards WR Michigan
    4. Chicago Carnell Williams HB Auburn
    5. Tampa Bay Alex Smith QB Utah
    6. Tennessee Antrel Rolle CB Miami
    7. Minnesota Mark Clayton WR Oklahoma
    8. Arizona Cedric Benson HB Texas
    9. Washington Adam Jones CB West Virginia
    10. Detroit Derrick Johnson OLB Texas
    11. Dallas Demarcus Ware OLB Troy
    12. San Diego Erasmus James DE Wisconsin
    13. Houston Shawne Merriman DE Maryland
    14. Carolina Carlos Rogers CB Auburn
    15. Kansas City Troy Williamson WR South Carolina
    16. New Orleans Shaun Cody DT Southern Cal
    17. Cincinnati Thomas Davis S Georgia
    18. Minnesota Mike Williams WR Southern Cal
    19. St. Louis Jammal Brown OT Oklahoma
    20. Dallas Marcus Spears DE LSU
    21. Jacksonville David Pollack DE Georgia
    22. Baltimore Travis Johnson DT Florida St
    23. Seattle Luis Castillo DT Northwestern
    24. Green Bay Matt Roth DE Iowa
    25. Denver Fabian Washington CB Nebraska
    26. N.Y. Jets Alex Barron OT Florida State
    27. Atlanta Roddy White WR Alabama-Birm
    28. San Diego Khalif Barnes OT Washington
    29. Indianapolis Brodney Pool S Oklahoma
    30. Pittsburgh Marcus Johnson OT Mississippi
    31. Philadelphia Heath Miller TE Virginia
    32. New England Justin Miller CB Clemson

The 49ers have a credibility problem with their fans. What better way to solve that than to select a Bay Area quarterback?

Lions GM Matt Millen likes the Longhorns as much as Mack Brown does. Johnson can join Shaun Rogers, Cory Redding and Roy Williams in the starting lineup.

With Chad Lewis (age 33) getting up in years, the Eagles need another pass-catching tight end. Miller won the Mackey Award as college football's best tight end in 2004.

Hmmm ... Minny getting Clayton at #7 & Mike Williams at #18. This could happen if Williams is best player available at that spot, but it would be hard to justify 2 first round WRs. With young guys like Burleson and Campbell along with Marcus Robinson, seems too much to invest with 2 more young WRs.

    And Alex Barron at #26?

At least his mock doesn't look like ESPNs, CNNSIs, or any other sporting publication. That could be a good thing, or tend to show some ignorance.

Other than a few WTF's, thats a good mock.

Finally, one that realizes the Texans needs other than at LT.

I also like the fact that Jammal Brown went ahead of Barron. Brown is a lot tougher and I think that will carry him further in the NFL.

This writer lost all credibility when he put Mark Clayton at #7 overall, and Mike Williams at #18. Mel Kiper has Mike Williams at #1 on his latest draft board.

 I don't think Mike Williams goes #1 or # 18 th. I think he goes in the middle of the top 1st round. So, I can see him going anywhere between 6 and 14.

But I would not realy on any mock draft putting Williams at #1  After all the 49 are already working on their quarterbacks contract.

This isn't the worst Mock draft I've seen. It's different, but plausible.

You're obviously not familiar with Gosslien. The guy has the most accurate mock drafts year in and year out.

If Detroit drafts Derrick Johnson they should just change their colors to burnt orange.

yeah right, after picking up gamble in the first round last year and overpaying ken lucas this year, the panthers for sure will pick up another cb... especially with mike williams, barron & brown still on the board

btw: you think barron should be drafted within the first 15 selections?

Mark Clayton going 7th is completely stupid.

Well he does have Clayton going to the same team as Williams and only one other WR going between them. And Williamson is moving up everyone's list so its not that outlandish when you look at the big picture.

I was referring to Kiper's "Big Board" where he ranks the top draft prospects. It isn't a mock draft. I just have a hard time believing that Mel's #1 prospect falls to #18, while a 5'11 possession receiver in Clayton is projected 7th.

    Mel's Big Board

Clayton isn't a possession receiver. He's got 4.4 speed and is the best receiver in the draft after the catch.

Most accurate though generally means around 50-60% right though (which is better than Mel who hits well below that).

IT's important to note thought that his draft is apparently compiled by asking people who the teams are looking at and going to draft, while Mel, etc, are more likely to put in who they think the teams should draft.

I don't know about other football fans, but I'd care more about who Casserly's looking at in the draft than who Mel Kiper thinks the Texans should pick.

I would be fine with Merriman. Although in this mock, I'd prefer the Texans take Mike Williams.

With Charlie letting our two starting LB's go, it is a good bet that we will draft a LB at #1. I figured he planned to trade down a few rounds and pickup Demarcus Ware, but Ware's stock has definitely risen recently. So maybe he'll just 'settle' for Merriman. From what I've heard the rap on Mike Williams is that he may not be able to remain a WR and will end up a TE/SlotBack like Wychek was.

The Texans are definitely not taking Williams. Word is they want a speed receiver next to Johnson to stretch the field.

IMO the Texans already have a good number two in Armstrong but he isn't the speed reciever they want either.

I thought Johnson was the speed receiver?
