ROCKETS GUARD BOB SURA (13 PTS, 6 ASSTS): “I’m waiting for Tracy to come back in here so we can talk about those 24-second violations. He gets paid to take those shots, I don’t.” http://www.nba.com/suns/news/quotes_050409.html
I don't think that's a simple statement. I think there a lot of sarcasm and a sense of humor in there. He's just kind of making fun of the situation. He knows that if Tracy doesn't have a shot, he will pass. On the Suns website, they have a post-game show with some behind the scenes footage. http://www.nba.com/suns/
I don't think he should say it in public. That's not good for team chemistry. If Sura thinks of it that way then I have a question: How much should Rockets pay him for hitting FTs? He shot those last two FTs so quick, it almost looked like he didn't care. BTW, are you sure this is an accurate quote?
I agree with tigermission. That's why I started this post. I thought it was a very funny quote. Sura is not blaming himself or Tracy, he's just making light of the sutuation
Definitely sarcasm, but I just hope Sura learns from his mistakes tonight. Deep down, I hope Sura relishes playing in tight games like these. If he does not, then he hampers the team's progress of getting better.
It's amazing how many groupies are at these basketball games. Check out the post-game show during breaks. You'll see Steve Nash leave with a girl he just met
Believe or not, there is some truth in Sura's statement. TMa should definitaly make his move a little earlier in both occassions, just in case he got swarmed and can't get the shots off. However, both times, he passed the ball to Sura a little too late with only few ticks on the clock. What could Sura do? He did not have time to pass one more time, and basically, he had to shoot. In those situations, M James would be better off if he were there recieving the ball; he is quick enough to get his shot off.
There's a funny bit between 26min30sec and 27min10sec during the post game show. Check it out. The guy calls JVG Jef Van Grumpy and then JVG confirms his statement by giving a boring interview.
LOL! Yah, I forgot about that Anyways, he couldn't have been serious in that quote, then he would be blasted by others for choking big time at the charity line, which could have secured the game for us. But again, it was sarcastic and was clearly said to make fun of the whole thing. Look, it is a looooong season, and mistakes are made. No one thing should EVER be held as a grudge against any player, because they are human beings and we all make mistakes. If you or I were expected to perform flawlessly in anything we do in life, we wouldn't last in one job for more than a few days. I forgive Sura for those FTs, even if they cost us the game (yes, I really do mean it). I have seen great players over the years choke at the line more times than I can count. So it is not like somehow, under pressure, your FT% will 'magically' improve during crunch time. Your are what you are, as far as your FT shooting accuracy. That is what I believe.
It looked like Tmac came was hobbling late in the fourth with a sprained ankle or something. That may explain his lack of involvement offensively in the last 2mins.
and Jon Barry is going to run Yao out of town. It's a joke. Now we will probably have some sina article calling Sura "public enemy number one" again.
Sura joked that McGrady is supposed to be the one who has possession at the finish. But this was the actual quote and shows it a little bit more that sura was joking.... lol "I don't get paid enough to take shots like that," Sura said. "He does."
he was clearly joking around, even though he is right. both those 24 second violations were completely on t-mac. what is bob supposed to do with 3 seconds left? he is definitely not known for his one-on-one scoring ability, and that's all mcgrady's passes gave him an option to do. those freaking missed free throws are another story though.
