Unlike past programs, though, this one will not be accompanied by an amnesty program. Berta Mejia, the presiding judge of Houston municipal courts, said today that Houston police officers will begin knocking on doors later this month and arresting those who have failed to appear in court or otherwise resolve their tickets. Mejia said that the targets of the sweeps are those who have had tickets or citations delinquent for at least 61 days, usually longer, and have had several letters and phone calls encouraging them to resolve the warrants. Mejia recommended that those with outstanding warrants contact the city to work out a payment plan before finding two police officers at their door. Mejia said that city courts historically issue about 135,000 warrants a year for failure to appear. She said the city generally issues about 1.2 million citations and tickets a year. Delinquency in resolving a city ticket or citation can significantly increase the cost. On top the original fine, scofflaws face a $200 fine for failure to appear plus an additional 30 percent for the law firm of Linebarger Goggan Blair and Sampson, with whom the city contracted in 1999 to collect delinquent revenue.
I had this happen to me not too long ago. Some ticket I had gotten a few years back and forgot about... and now there's a cop pounding on my door. Jail SUCKS.
Oh crap. Now I'm a little worried. I have an unpaid ticket. I lost the stupid thing. Somehow, my special lady found an email address and sent them an email saying, "Toast lost his traffic ticket. Can you tell me what he needs to do to fix this?" They sent her a response saying, "He needs to call the number on the back of the ticket." Uh ... what part of lost the ticket did you not understand?!? It was a constable, not HPD. Are they still coming for me? Anyone know what I'm supposed to do to clear up my record?
i have over $1200 CDN worth of tickets i haven't paid right now. good thing they're all from a different province than where i'm from, because they don't track them inter-provincially.
get them paid. I just had to pay 721 bucks for a ticket outside of houston. La Grange...TX. Failure to appears kill!
If it was a constable, you might try Harris County Courts. You can enter your Drivers License on the website below and it will pull up all your past and present tickets issued by the Harris County Sheriffs Dept. http://www.ccl.hctx.net/
