It's opening day for the Reds (playing the Mets on ESPN right now) and Ken Griffey Jr is not hurt and is playing today.
Griffey is tha man on opening day. Has something like 7 HRs and 15 RBIs in his career. Watch out for this guy today. Plus, Steve Stone is now on ESPN doing the KC / DET game. Stone is great IMO, especially since he was critical of the Cubbies while doing their games for WGN and stood his ground. Maybe he did get the axe, but being on ESPN is not a bad rebound job.
Lima Time was not adjusted to Daylight Saving Time .. must have thought he was pitching batting practice.
Adam Dunn with a monster 3 run shot off Pedro, followed by the Cincinnati fans chanting "Who's Your Daddy?" ... priceless.
In potential fight news, Kansas City just beaned Dmitri Young in his third at bat. Both benches were warned, even though there was a man on.
Is Luke Scott really going to wear #67 on his Astros uniform? I thought he was an outfielder, not an offensive lineman!
Gammons baseball predictions ROOKIE OF THE YEAR National League: There's something about J.J. Hardy's energy and glove that can do for the Brewers what Greene did for the Padres. But this may be an open race: Houston outfielders Luke Scott and Willy Taveras (both acquired from the Indians for Jeriome Robertson) had good springs. Colorado has left-hander Jeff Francis, third baseman Garrett Atkins and shortstop Clint Barmes and the Phillies are relying on right-hander Gavin Floyd. *****************************************
