Hey, I know I've been out of the loop for awhile, but I just wondered if anyone knew if and when SirCharles will see his #4 take its place among the other Rockets greats (or has it happened already)? ------------------ The Attack on Shaq - 1992 Playoffs: 0-4 vs. Pacers - First Round - 1995 Playoffs: 0-4 vs. Rockets - Final Round - 1996 Playoffs: 0-4 vs. Bulls - Third Round - 1998 Playoffs: 0-4 vs. Jazz - Third Round - 1999 Playoffs: 0-4 vs. Spurs - Second Round Memo to Shaq: It must suck to be you.
According to local radio sports talk, Barkley is probably not going to have his jersey retired by the Rockets. Their reason is that he did not play long enough with the Rockets. Haven't the Rockets retired Drexler's jersey? They both played 4 seasons for us. The difference between the two is, of course, that Drexler helped win us a ring and Barkley didn't and Drexler was a hometown hero while Barkley was a hired gun. ------------------ RealGM Rockets Draft Obligations Summary Gafford Art Artisan
I'd prefer to see Thorp's jersey retired, before Sir Charles's. 6 1/2 years of very good play and was an integral part of the first championship team. Or maybe even Robert Reid, who played 10 years with the club and went to the Finals twice. Barkley barely played 200 games for the Rockets, including the playoffs. ------------------ "Thirty-seven?" -Randall, Clerks www.clutchtown.com
Barkley was an H-Town favorite when he was here and is a future HOF. He deserves to have his jersey retired by the Rockets and so does OT! ------------------ Go vote for Steve Francis for the All-Star game!! You only have until Sunday!! Vote for Francis! I would love to see Robert Reid's jersey retired. I don't care how good a player he was, I just know that he was one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. When I was 10 years old, he had a basketball camp in my town and before the first day started he spent like ten minutes just talking to me, he was so cool. Another note to RocketMan East: Shaq wasn't in the 1992 playoffs because that was his last year at LSU. In his rookie year, the Magic did not make the (1993) playoffs. That series against the pacers was in 1994. ------------------

Just out of curiousity, which number would you like retired? He wore two different numbers. Quiz time: What two numbers did Reid wear? Why did he switch? Who wore Reid's original number? ------------------ Behad Sergeant at Arms of the Clutch BBS
Yeah, Robert Reid came and talked at my HS a few years ago. Really cool guy. Talked about lots of things, but among them was keeping drug and alcohol free. The humerous followup -- he was busted for posession like 3 days later. He was a pretty good player for the Rocks, and I wouldn't mind seeing his jersey retired . He already had it retired in college Kudos to whomever knows where he went (same place I go). As far as CB is concerned, I think retiring Barkley's number would be an excellent thing for the Rocks to do, and it could be a great PR move in getting some more fan interest. ------------------ "Any answer that can't be questioned is no answer at all.
