It was announced today that a warmup game for the Goodwill Games in Brisbane, will be held at Vodafone Arena in Melbourne next month. Team USA and the Aussie Boomers will square off once again, for what looks to be an interesting match.
    I'll be there...will you??? [IMG]

As much as I want the Boomers to win, they won't. [IMG]

No date (other than next month) was given. It was just reported (Melbourne Herald Sun) that Basketball Australia and the NBA has reached an agreement.
I have no idea how much tickets will go for.

    AUSSIES ONLY NO LONGER!!

heh, sorry, I had to post that. Now I'll stay on topic. One of the things that really intrigues me, is the improvement of the level of international play, eventually (not too far down the road), the US will actually have to consider their selections for the team based on actual team play, instead of just picking a random 13 all-stars. That will be nice, having strong competition to add some actual interest in the games.

That's probably still quite a few years away!
If you consider Australia the 4th best world team (their position at the last 2 olympics) then I guess they'd be considered a "threat a few years down the track". Sadly the Aussies just don't have the personel to challenge the US anytime soon - so I guess it's over to Europe, see if they can find a country that has enough "Radmanovic's/ Stojakovic's" from one country to throw together a tough team.

    DrN,

There is no way we are the 4th best nation in the world there is no doubt over the last 4-5yrs we have gone backwards and were extremely luck to finish 4th, USA, Lithuania, Russia, Yugoslavia, Croatia and even France are all better than us and lets not forget we lost to a full strength Canadian team at the Olympics.

Where are the Gascol, Radmans, Turkoglu, Stovakovic's etc from DownUnder playing in the NBA, any injured and old Luc Longley is the best we have to offer, now that says something.

The Women's program is going nuts, but the Men are lagging, hopefully fabulous Phil Smyth will be able to turn it around.
