So I recently purchased the first season DVD of Madtv after I'd seen a few episodes on CC. I have to say I'm quite impressed with the show. I still don't know quite what to make of it, it's been around for 10 years now, and it seems to either fall flat, or border on ultimate hi-larity. Some of the skits have me rolling on the floor laughing like a alcoholic. Orlando Jones is ****ing awesome, Phil LaMarr and Nicole Sullivan (fapfapfap) are also great. I've heard that the first 2 seasons are good but then it goes straight to hell. Anyone else give a ****?

I am a HUGE SNL buff, but when CC didnt pickup the option to keep airing SNL and go with the cheaper MadTV I started to watch that also... It's not bad, it has it's moments... to me MadTV isnt quite as good as In Living Color with SNL being the best of the three major S.C. shows..

I think they just go overboard with how often they use their characters. How many Stewart and Miss Swan sketches do we need? It's like "let's see what happens if Stewart has Miss Swan as a babysitter?"

best skit ever is debra wilson's skits of whitney houston. one of 'em was the "whitney sings the holiday classics" or something like that.

Yeah, I find MadTV pretty much unwatchable. The tall guy who does the Stewart character has some moments but overall it is bad IMO.

I remember that MadTV was awesome its first few years and then it all went to hell.... Im glad that you've heard the same thing, because I wasnt sure if it was just because I was younger and developed a more mature sense of humor or if thats what legitimately happened.

Ah very good drew, good point.

I think that in the newer MadTV's Michael McDonald (Stuart) is basically the Will Ferrell that saves it from being ****.

Have anyone catch The Sketch Show on FOX and The Hollow Men on Comdey Central? I normally don't like British humor, but those 2 shows are awesome!

I agree with Will Sasso and would also like to mention Aries Spears. He is always hilarious and his Shaq impression always has me rolling. Frank Caliendo also has some great impressions. People know his Madden is great, but his Dubya is spot on as well.

I'm a MadTV fan as well. It is more consistent.

SNL is just a bunch of sneaky snakes.

The first couple of years of MadTV are the only ones I watched and I thought it blew SNL away. I still can't watch an episode of SNL without saying "what the hell is funny about this" in regards to half the skits they do. I don't know why that show is still popular.

MadTV was hilarious, but I haven't watched it since the first couple of seasons.

It's the opposite, I think. [count down to move to D&D]

Or maybe it's just that ILC has more Black dudes?

As good as MadTV is/was, it couldn't compare to ILC. ILC was the funniest thing on tv in a while and pushed the boundaries of what was acceptable on tv more than any other show of its generation.
