Since a few people seemed interested in talking about fish tanks in the fantasy b-ball forum, I figured I'd start a thread here. Smeg, I have a 29 gallon fresh water tank that I just cleaned from top to bottom last night. I decided to change the gravel from a brownish riverbed type gravel to completely black gravel. The black gravel looks really cool and accents the fish more. The fish, angel fish, albino catfish, bala shark, clown loach, silver catfish, an orange striped snake fish, an algae eater and some others that I can't recall, seem to be adapting ok. I only have one plant, that has somehow survived for over two years and a few rock decorations. PhiSlammaJamma wrote: Anybody know what to do with an old fish tank? I've got a tank that has some kind of bacteria/algae combination in it, but I CANNOT kill it, and it always runs over the tank. I've tried bleach, chemical agents, and whatnot, but no go. It ALWAYS comes back. So I need to clean it and do something with it. What about a Terrarium or something. How expensive is that? And what should I put in it? 30 gallon tank. ------------------ "Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever." - Gandhi
I just got into the world of tropical fish. I am starting out with an 15 gallon Eclipse sytem. I currently have 6 fish to start with. (3 black neon tetras and 3 'head and tailight' fish) I'm using seas glass instead of gravel. It looks pretty cool and really accents the light. I'm new at all this so I look forward to everyone's fish stories. ------------------
Man ive had a ton of tanks!! right now i live in a temporary rented house so no fishies, but i own four 55 gal tanks, one 30 gal, one 20 gal two 10 gal, and a 5 gal and a 2.5 gal. the little tanks were for when i had one of the big tanbks filled with killer fish like oscars, and other agressives. i used to have piranna in the 30(hard to get in Ny, they are illegal here) my bro has his nile monitor lizard in one of the big tanks now we used to run the 20 gal as a salt water tank fille with local fish (black fish, puffers, eel fish, a seahorse, and others. my brother studied marine biology at southampton collage, so we had a great tank. the funny thing was that the saltwater tank had no filter, we got an oyster to live in there, and they filter more water/hour than any electric thing can. we also had some local crabs. that tank lasted 5 years before we freed the little critters. ((we had to) we moved) anyhoo there were so manny tanks in my life i cant name them all. peace ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball http://www.hanta-force.com
The best thing to do with an old fish tank is throw it away. just like i did, and buy a new one. less hassle. ------------------ Sometimes you gotta do the next best thing!
