I think it's because Deke is one of the few players that don't back down when facing Shaq and can actually hold his own. I've only seen Dream, David Robinson, and Deke do this in Shaq's career.
- Doesn't think teams are doing enough lately to stop Yao and Tmac. Thinks teams will start doubling them more and open up more shots from the outside. - Doesnt care if they play Seattle or Dallas. All they can control right now is win as many games as they can. - Caller asked what the differences were between the win at Cleveland and the loss at San Antoino. JB answered that Cleveland stinks and the Spurs are great. - Bowen is a great pro, plays hard all the time. He's a very personable person and is a big movie buff. - His family is coming in this weekend and they're going to check out an Astros game. That's it, not a very long show....the team had just gotten back in town.
nothing much more took some calls, one asked what was the difference between the Cleveland win and the SA loss (dumb question) and he answered that SA is just a better team, a great defending team etc.. another call was a big Bowen fan and wondered how it is to play with him. the sports guys were messing with him and saying "so how is it to play with Shaq and Ryan Bowen??" Said that he is great and is a big movie buff... oh yea, they asked him about an email from a fan asking if Yao is big headed about his movie and Jon didnt even know about it. Then for some reason Moochie was brought up and he says that he is a technology buff and brings all of his electronics on board with his IPOD, laptop, etc.... thats all i can remember, not really interesting, Jon sounded tired, which I guess why it was short.
It was pretty funny! You really can't get a sense of how funny JB is unless you hear him talk, he would make one hell of a comedian if he wasn't a b-ball player. That question about SA and Cavs, the caller asked him what was the difference in playing both teams and why the Rox were able to blow out the Cavs but lost to the Spurs, JB answered, "Why? Spurs are great, Cleveland Sux!" Then he talked about the Steve Javie conversation before the Spurs game, in which Javie told JB that he would try to foul "the Barry brothers" out of the game, only to have JB come back at him with, "Well, how about fouling out the Bown brothers? (referring to Bruce and Ryan Bowen )?" He also was joking around about that incident in which Snyder threw a racial slur at JB, and he said "Yah, won't dwell much on that, but Sura was gracious enough to bring it to the media's attention! ", he said that the racial slur was the equivelant of "White Boy" but without mentioning the "Super Squad" part, which would have made it more OK! Also, when Lance & John were joking around and asking him "How was it to play with Shaq and Ryan Bowen, two of the greats?", JB came back with "Well, they are both dominant players..." then everyone broke out laughing. I don't know what it is, but anytime I see JB or hear him talk, I just start cracking up! I wish he would retire this off season and take a job with SR610 to do a show or something, he is just hilarious!
