A friend of a friend of a friend was recently made aware that he might snore sometimes. Any successful experience with stopping it?

    Thanks.

My roomate (pretty big guy, like 320 something) snores like a freight train.

I made him try the strips, the spray, everything... nothing worked.

Now use a combination of music/ear plugs/and not sleeping in the same room to combate it.

    God I hate him...

    Put Nair on his sack.......
    Sorry....I'm way behind

I've always heard sleeping on your side helps.....I don't know. I got a friend that is getting tested tonight about snoring. If they give him anything or do something to help I'll share the info.

Get a sleep study done so that your medical insurance can pay for a mouthpiece. It moves your jaw forward, and your tongue out of the way.
Of course they might make you wear the positive pressure oxygen mask instead.

A word of warning about those masks (CPAP I think they're called): A lot of people stop wearing them after a while even though at first the masks do help the patients breath easier.

My dad had a cpap machine and was good about wearing the mask for about six months until he complained that the head gear was just too uncomfortable. He tried out different models but later on just decided it was too much trouble. When we went back to the doctor, the doctor said it is quite common for patients to stop using the cpap machines.

Bingo, although some people, including yours truly, have other medical conditions that cause sleep apnea. In 2000 I had surgery to correct it....they broke and reset my nose to fix a deviated septum, removed my tonsils and amputated my uvula. The surgery changed my life. I sleep much better now, and silently as well (according to the ladies). I also don't get exhausted at 2PM everyday. I wish I would have had it done at age 19 instead of age 39. Beats the crap out of that air mask they try to sell to sleep apnea patients.

About how much MULAH does all this cost? My Ear-Nose-Throat specialist wants to correct my septum, fix my enlarged uvula... (or was that VULVA??? )

SWEET. BLUE + BLUE shield? Funny, but when I had arthroscopic on my knee, which by the way went well and now the other one needs work, they charged me for the BRACE, ANESTHETICS, and $300 for the operation... what gives?

It was an HMO I was under while at a previous job. All I paid were co-pays for doctor's office visits before and after.

Well, if you're a guy and your doctor wants to operate on your vulva, it's time to find a new doctor...

    Does he drink?

My wife says that when I drink too much, I snore horribly. If I don't (which has been the recent trend) then I don't snore.

Perhaps he has a deviated septum. Only surgery removes that, I think.
