Geez, this is hard but easier than the suckiest song ever, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I've always thought the best songs were the ones I actually paid attention to the lyrics and actually had the lyrics affect me. The best songs to me are also the ones I'm still saying "damn that's a great song" over 5 years later. I haven't had too many since the 80's I can say this about. This also leaves out about 99.9% of all the rap music I hear today where I like it for about a week and forget about it. I know I'm going to miss something, but here ya go : End of the Innocence by Don Henley The Boys of Summer by Don Henley The Heart of the Matter by Don Henley Cat's in the Cradle by Harry Chapin My Girl by The Temptations Just My Imagination by The Temptations Ain't Too Proud to Beg by the Temptations I'm Losing You by the Temptations The Way You Do the Things You Do by the Temptations Why Do Fools Fall in Love by Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers Sexual Healing by Marvin Gaye Rhythm of the Rain by The Cascades (hehe) Cruisin' by Smokey Robinson Being With You by Smokey Robinson Ooo Baby Baby by Smokey Robinson One Heartbeat by Smokey Robinson Tears of a Clow by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles The Tracks of My Tears by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles I Second That Emotion by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles Shop Around by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles Baby I Need Your Loving by the Four Tops King of Rock by Run DMC Walk This Way by Run DMC/Aerosmith It's Tricky by Run DMC I Can't Live Without My Radio by LL Cool J I'm Bad by LL Cool J Rock the Bells by LL Cool J How Do You Like Me Now by Toby Keith California Love by Tupac Shakur How Do You Want It by Tupac Shakur a bunch of other Tupac songs I'm missing Set Adrift on Memory Bliss by PM Dawn Paper Doll by PM Dawn A Watcher's Point of View by PM Dawn I'd Die Without You by PM Dawn Looking Through Patient Eyes by PM Dawn Reality Used to Be a Friend of Mine by PM Dawn PM Dawn is one of the most underrated groups of all time in my opinion (if you don't like rap, that's what they are, but it's not a cuss-fest and the lyrics are pretty deep in meaning...check it out Man, I could go on forever, but I'll stop here... obviously I'm going to leave out a lot of stuff like Diana Ross & the Supremes, more Marvin Gaye, a bunch of other Motown artists, but I have a liking for MoTown and music from the 50's - 70's. Something about that whole era... ------------------ "I give up. Please, please, PLEASE tell me you're joking. She took one of the greatest rock songs of all time, by one of the greatest bands of all time, and ruined it. Jazz, big bands and standards ... well, that's another list entirely.
