no its not wrong in my opinion if i was a player who grew up in a place and had a chance to represent that place in winning a worldly recognized award such as a gold medal, i would probably put that ahead of winning a title for a league that i have not been associated with but for 3 years

I remember that interview and I don't remember that the question was posed as would you rather win an NBA title or gold medal for China. I think the question was "How important is it for you to win a gold medal in the Olympics". His response was it was very important. I may be wrong, if someone could post the transcript of the interview. Hate to see Yao dissed like this, bad enough he takes all this crap from YOHs, but to fabricate things the guy never said takes the cake.

So because he is Chinese (where a gold medal is more important than NBA championship) the Rockets should somehow care? We're not questioning Yao's motives. It's just that his priorities are different from those of the Rockets.

But obviously you overlooked the fact that the Rockets actually WON tonight.

You say you've been a Rockets fan for 22 years. I'll venture a guess that you're uh...exactly 22 years old. Will you please grow up? Nobody here is attacking you personally. And in case someone is, don't let it get to you. No self-respecting adult would allow something someone said over the internet bother him that much. This is a discussion board for crying out loud, not a daytime talk show.

no they should care as a franchise but they are ok with it because the guy puts in a great effort into his game even if we dont see it....van gundy will not live with a player who does not work hard so that explains how hard yao works to learn.

Start the action now, get rid of all the international players! NBA don't want that garbage, who the heck they think they are, collecting paychecks from the club, and yet put their country above that. How dare they?! Let's give medals to those US players who don't want to play for the country, coz they fit in your standard, who care about the league more than everything else. Wait, lots of players they actually care more about money and own fame, what do you do with them?

By the way, how would you answer the following question in a job interview? What's more important, your family or your job? If you say your job, applying your logic, you probably would never get a job, coz people think either you are lying, or you are just a guy with wrong priorities.

Want proof? Does "Sweet Lou" ring any bells to you?

I guess I am an old timer but I have probably been watching the Rockets for longer than your "exactly 22 years old" description.

Excuse me, Sir. But I believe they were complaining about your reply to my reply to you. And the one you just picked, actually was one of those replies, complaining about your attitude. Please look harder. My orginal reply was to your bold statement that Yao was there to collect paychecks only. I didn't call you an idiot, just mentioned what the coaches said about Yao. Applying your logic, your words must be more credible. So my assumption was you based that on your 22 years experience. In other words, you are not defending any attack, but attacking wildly.

Sigh...I know perfectly well who Lou Dunbar is, and I can guarantee you there are hundreds, if not thousands of other people on the board who know who he is as well.

There are plenty of "old timers" around here who are absolute gold mines of NBA and Houston Rockets information. It wouldn't be very smart to delude yourself into thinking you know more than everyone else.

Lou Dumbar??? Try L. Llyod! He was know in the mid-80's as "Sweet Lou" because of his soft shooting touch. He and Mitchell Wiggins messed up the Rockets by getting kicked out of the league because of illicit drug addiction.

LOL! Goodness, if I knew I was going to get bombarded with napalm bombs for critizing Yao Ming, I would have been more careful. There are a lot of sensitive toes out there, I guess.
