Alright. We went to Live Sports cafe last night and were treated to some gawd-awful nachos. (sorry Stack) I mean, seriously. These things were chips with cheese sauce, jalepenos, processed tasteless grilled chicken bits, olives and GRILLED onions. To be fair, Live does make a good pizza. So we started discussing who makes the best nachos. We were pretty much stumped. So, I'm asking y'all. Who has the best nachos?
I remember there was a place in Lubbock that had a "Mountain of Nachos." The awesome thing about them wasn't the taste. It was the sheer volume. They took half a freaking bag of nacho chips, and dumped cheese sause on every third of the chips. It was awesome. Hey Stack: Get your chef to serve them this way, and y'all will have another hit on your hands besides pizza.
Steak Nachos at Texas Land and Cattle. Yeah, it's not the sloppy mound of cheese you're probably looking for, but it's damn tasty.
I seem to recall back in the day that the Hard Rock Cafe made a b****in' batch of nachos. Haven't been there in decades, though. If it's fast food you're after, though, forget nachoes. It's all about Taco Bell's Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes.
Fox and the Hound serves a huge plate of nachos that are really good. They're enough for 2 people Live does have some great pizza.....I reccomend the Sophia.
What's the name of the place on Westheimer (or Richmond?) that serves those 'King Kong Nachos'? Heart attack on a platter.
I think you are talking about Chacho's ... the King Kong can feed around 4-6 hungry men and still have left-overs. Don't try it with less than 4, as the more you eat and notice that there is so much grease and cheese left ... it plays tricks with your mind ... makes you feel like a little girl in Switzerland singing on a snowy mountain top in your Sunday's best while prancing around with your pet doggie Fluffy. (Come to think of it, what the heck is in those nachos?)
I have heard Felix (I think that is the name) on Montrose at Westheimer have good ones. Never been there, though.
I take my family there at least once a week (it's just up the street from my house in Timbergrove). ---------------- I really enjoy a good Queso Flameado - where they mix queso with chorizo. Yes, every bite will take away two years of your life, but ... whooo that stuff is goooooooood. -- droxford
i like Freebird's nachos. Made the way you want them. I get mine with queso, black beans, sour cream, a little of fire sauce, sometimes slices of avacado, and steak. Really really, good stuff....
