if you were around in 94 and 95 when the rockets won the championships, you would be used to this lack of attention/respect.
I agree with Stack.. No one respects us ..well some but a lot of times we dont' get respect or are dissed..and yeah hopefully we'll come out and do really good..maybe advance to 2nd round or something. I hate how we don't get anyr espect..but I guess we have to get used to it. No point in looking at those sites for Rockets stuff
Exactly if i was to look at Rockets.com or ESPN or NBA.com for something that was usefull i woudn't be here on CC.net... I could care less what the world thinks of us as long as we play and we put up W's in the games....
yeah i don't need the rockets to be built up as the power team only to crumble under the pressure....underdogs have and advantage cuase they got nothing to lose....let us be the underdog that comes out and bites everyone in the ass...much like Barkely kissed.
This sounds more like an insecurity complex to me than anything else Give me a break - who cares I did my round of sites this morning just to catch the take from sports-sites and found that the reporting was quite fair. It is not as if the Rockets just moved on to the next playoff series. Actually, cnnsi had the rocks as the top news story in the NBA section and espn had highlights on in motion As I read above - there are bigger sports stories right now (NCAA) The time will come - be patient little man
respect is earned...which means that, to the media, we have to be playin very well...during our win streaks, we were on the front page a few times, so i wouldn't pay it too much mind...
I know! I enjoy it a lot more when people are dissing the Rockets than praising them. When they start getting praise they promptly go out and suck.
Why does anyone give a crap what the media thinks? But with that being said, and if it makes you feel better, Kenny Smith was on VERY briefly this morning (and I mean Very breifly, as in 2 minutes) on SR 610. Kenny praised the Rockets play and basically repeated some of what he said last night before the game regarding the Rockets. John & Lance asked him why Barkley is "hatin' on the Rockets", to which Kenny laughed out and said, "Man, you know Charles, he is a hater by nature"! (I am glad he validated what I have always said about Barkley). He also said that the Rockets have a shot in the West if Duncan is out, because the Spurs are clearly the best team. Moreover, John and Lance cracked jokes at Barkley popping his jacket's button because he is too fat, and they joked about Charles saying last night that "now I am officially fat," questioning, "Did he not know that already?". As for another thing, NBATV has the Memphis Grizzilies radio guy on the show, and he went overboard a bit with his praise for the Rockets, saying he thinks they will be a very tough team to beat "because they have two great players in Yao and McGrady, and one of them, or both, on any given night can beat you". When asked about potentially dangerous teams in the playoffs, he said that He thinks Dallas are a solid team, but "no disrespect to Nowitzki, but I think Houston with McGrady is much more dangerous. I think we all saw that 13 points in 30 seconds performance in San Antonio, and the guy is just that good, it comes so natural to him and he can beat in so many more ways than Nowitzki." As I said, he went a bit overboard, for although I believe the Rockets are slightly more solid than Dallas, I don't think the rockets are "much more" dangerous than the Mavs. If healthy, I think the Mavs are very solid and difficult to beat in 7-game series. But I feel even more so about the Rockets. Why? We seem to get up more and play better as the competition gets better, I think our record against top elite teams in the league can be stacked up against any other team. JVG hit the nail on the head today when he said that he doesn't worry about the Rockets' preparation for good teams, it is the "New Orleans" types that he worries about. I share the sentiment...
We should all know by now EPSN.com is really nothing special as far as sports website is concerned. Just bunch of guys writing the same thing over and over again after the fact. Nothing compare to the sports writers here at Houston chronicle.
oh well, who cares...we will prove them all wrong. remember the nba finals last yr? NO ONE gave the pistons and cred whatsoever. dont worry, we dont need the media.
