I just watched saving private ryan on DVD. I think it was my 5th time seeing the movie. and DAMN IT ROCKS. I feel like fighting for a greater good. ok but here is the thing. a few years ago we had Braveheart(best movie ever) than Private Ryan. this summer all we had was Gladiator. Im really hoping that Perl Harbour will satisfy my war movie lust. there is only so many times i can see those 3 recent war movies. these 3 movies are great, but there are some older classics that everyone should see. for one. Kelleys heros. damn fine movie. it has clint eastwood, telly sevalis, and donald sotherland. oh yeah, archie bunker is in it too. also the longest day with John wayne is a peice of cinimatic mastery. my favorite war movie when i was a kid was battle of the bismark. its an impresive movie, and it actually greys the line between good guys and bad guys. you dont want the bismark to sink by the end. the only problem is that much like the titanic, you know how its gonna end. the longest hour is also a fine film. oh and so is sparticus. there are so many. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ADD SOME OF YOUR FAVORITES in the EPIC/WAR catagory. as well as your REVIEWS of these movies. ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball http://www.hanta-force.com [This message has been edited by The Voice of Reason (edited December 19, 2000).]

I was tempted to walk out of "a thin red line" it was so booring. there were some brilliant parts, but i didnt need to see 10 mins of footage on a tree in the middle of the jungle. that movie should have been 2 hours long. NO LONGER. I have always thought that the scene in platoon when they all evac to the helicoptors, while leaving the good liutenant behind. is an amazing scene. absolutely powerfull. the longest day has the best scene in movie history though. If you have seen the movie you know what im talking about. amazing directing amazing filming. kick butt action ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball http://www.hanta-force.com

Damn, I was reading Rockeman95's favs, and the first two are my two all time favs: Apocolypse now (favorite movie of all time) and Full Metal Jacket. Then he dissed Saving Private Ryan and Braveheart. Any hopes of finding some common ground were laid to rest ------------------ stop posting my damn signature
The Big Red One... with Lee Marvin and Luke Skywalker.. I really enjoyed that movie. It was the first real "war" movie that I remember. I must've seen it several times. Attack Force Z - This movie starred Mel Gibson, it was pretty good. Mel play's a special forces type that is sent to save/asassinate(?) someone. It was a Vietnam movie, if I recall correctly. and of course, Apocalypse Now... SGT. rockHEAD ------------------ *** THIS SPACE FOR LEASE ***

I know it wasn't a movie (or was it?) But did anyone besides me not miss an episode of Baa Baa Blacksheep in the 70s? ------------------ 'Deeds, not words, shall speak me.'
