Wha? You have it backwards, hybrids use electic motors for acceleration and cruise on the gas engine. Unless you really gun your car constantly then you use the full power of the gas engine and negate your fuel savings. The current generation of batterys don't have enough capacity to cruise without the gas engine. I'm waiting for the electrically assisted turbocharger/supercharger, personally. Screw gas prices, I want turbo-lag to go away
The finest truck ever made. It has been the top selling vehicle (car, truck, van, whatever) for many years in the US.
I really think you have it backwards. Look it up. Until you ask more from the engine than the electrics can give you (mostly during acceleration), the electric motor does all the work. Whether you are cruising on the highway or idling at a stop light, the gas engine pretty much shuts down until you accelerate. You do need to learn how to drive the car so as to maximize your fuel efficiency, but I know people who are getting 70+ MPG in cars rated for 50.
hey man, I don't know about you, but I don't want a war between Coca Cola and the oil companies. Just tandem bike everywhere
Unfortunately, popular with some other folks too... http://www.dot.state.tx.us/atpa/statistics/what.htm
Consumer Reports rates the F150 as "Good" or "Very Good" in all categories except Fuel Economy and Predicted Reliability. On those, it rates as "Very Bad." So re: fuel economy, that certainly supports the idea that Americans could care less. FYI: Fuel economy CU's overall mileage, mpg 14 CU's city/highway, mpg 9/20 CU's 150-mile trip, mpg 16 Annual fuel: gal./cost 1090/$2175
I have looked it up, you're right they use the electric motor until the battery is expended or you ask for more than the motor can give. But for freeway cruising, current hybrids use the gas motor more than the electric because the batterys don't have the capacity, which is why they get bettery economy in the city in actual usage than on the highway. Also, they don't idle, they shut off at stoplights and use a motor to bring the gas engine back up to operating speed almost instantly, further saving on fuel.
Well, this is the purebred car I'm waiting for. http://blueovalnews.com/2005/products/lane.mustanggt500.20mar05.htm The next generation Ford SVT Mustang Cobra will use the Shelby Cobra GT500 moniker. The vehicle will produce an estimated 450 horsepower and is scheduled to be unveiled this coming week at the New York International Auto Show.
Damn!! 450 HP. How much is that gonna run? I need to get that car so I can smoke my dad in his SC430.
I see you corrected it later, but : First of all, Consumer Reports stinks as a review magazine. Second of all, there's no stock Camry (Solara or otherwise) that does 0-60 in anything close 6 secs unless it had a booster rocket hooked up to it. lol.
Well, thanks for pointing out that I corrected myself and correcting me on the statement I already corrected. Regardless if you like Consumer's tests, it was an apples-to-apples comparison and the Hypbrid outperformed the gas powered version. Just pointing this out because most people (including myself) assumed just the opposite.
what type of license does it take to drive a motorcycle? will a texas class C be good enough to get one? I really wouldn't get one because my mom would take the bike and rev it, and rev it down my throat for driving one.
I thought of buying a bike years ago, but my wife has had 2 strict rules since the beginning. No sky diving No motorcycle I'm over it now
You need to get a class "M" license to legally drive a motorcycle. On my license now, under class it says "CM". The easiest way to get one is to take a Motorcycle Safety Foundation course and take the computer test at a DPS office. I took my MSF course over a weekend and the computer test the following Monday.
yeah big whoop gas is only up like 100% in a year. it sucks if u drive as much as me cuz its an extra 1500 to 2000 a year and i have a toyota camry.
Wow, that's between 833 and 1100 miles monthly. What's your job? BTW...100% higher than last year? Not quite. Try $.30-.40 cents higher than March of last year. That's about a .03 cent rise each month.
The were talking about a 25% fuel rise to be expected soon over here in Australia and it got me thinking......these alternative fueled cars all of a sudden will become a REAL option for people.
