I've been trying to burn a dvd using Nero. Everything seems to be working properly, it even says "successful" after burning.

But when I go to look at it it shows nothing is there. I can also see visually that nothing was burned by looking at it. It looks llke a brand new dvd. I have burned stuff before with no problems using the same type of discs.

    What gives?

I'll ask the obvious since it's what first comes to mind. The "simulation" option isn't checked, is it?

IIRC, inorder to burn DVDs in nero, you have buy the MPEG 2 licence.

    Simulation was not checked.

I DID burn a dvd just 2 weeks ago using Nero, that's why I can't understand why I can't now.

Just download one of the following
    DVD Decrypter (FREE)
    DVD Shrink (FREE)

I also use NERO but for some reason prefer DVD Shrink to all of these, dunno, its just me.

Heres the main "Guides page", it just absolutely rocks with info!!!!!

I thought you still had to use Nero to get it from the hard drive back to dvd? I have dvd shrink already, it can do that?

I think your 9000th post should be used to talk about 610 and why they don't stream their broadcasts.

    Yes, it is soooo easy.
It will rip a DVD and then shrink (if needed) then it will burn.
Check out the link I put in my previous post

The first thing to do is to click the Open Disk button located in the top-left corner of the main window. If you have already ripped the DVD using another DVD ripper, and have the files located on your hard disk drive, click on the Open Files button instead, and locate the folder where the VOB files are located.

Then you simply click the BACKUP button and thats it!

Give it a shot and let us know.
Sheez, I hope its not your burner. If so, hey I got a CHEAP double layer 16X DVD/CDR burner at Micro Center a few weeks ago in H-town for 70 bucks!
    A Heck of a deal!
    GOOD LUCK!:)

I'll give that a shot, too. I'm trying to free up some more disk space right now.

I still don't know why it said the burn was successful even though nothing was burned.

    Thats incredibly cheap!
I noticed it came with Sonic Record Now, I'm not familar with that burning program.
The one I got at Micro Center is a Samsung and it came with Nero 6.

Either way these things are getting VERY inexpensive!:D

They are, but I don't know much about the DVD burners (hardware). I understand what to use as software now, thanks to this thread. I am going to start a new thread about the Burners, since I am sure most people won't look at this thread anymore since they already have. (most likely)
