You know I meant to post this a while back and I never did. I went to a baseball game a couple of months ago just before the playoffs started when the Astros played the Cardinals and I sat right next to this guy. He walks in and everyone is in awe you know because he's you know Evander Holyfield. The guy is stuck u p as hell. He did sign my hat though but his way of being was just stuck up. His friends were really cool and they were more talkitive but Hoilyfield just sat there like there was somthing stuck in his ass. By about the 7th inning I guess I was just looking to see his reaction but I asked him what he thought about the Lights out Tony vs. Rydel Booker fight, knowing of course that he got his ass wooped by Lights Out. He turned to me and said "it was a good fight", but I could see that he did not like it. Just wanted to post this because I always thought the guy would be cool to meet, but I wouldn't want to meet him again. I did meet Boki and he was cool as hell. I asked him about the Karl Malone thing from last year and he said "that was cool wasn't it. Also met Nolan Ryan, he was also very nice and signed my hat. Holyfield was a complete jerk and Nolan Ryan who I thought would be the jerk actually ended up being cool. On a side note, I actually took a camera to this game and took pictures with all these guys and of course me being the complete dumbass that I am never checked to see if the film was done or if it had any film at all. I took pictures with all these guys and the camera had already gone past it's limit. SUX!!
I met Holyfield before and he was cool ~ I would describe him as reserved not much for conversation, but definitely approachable.
Met Tyson at a club a few years back...he was definently crazy looking but still said what's up and talked to me for a few minutes before leaving.
Honestly man, he signed your hat and agree to take pictures aswell as answered your questions. He doesn't have to do that but he did. Some people are just more private and the last thing they want is some body bothering them. I understand if you're a fan and it's disappointing he's not more nice, but like I've said, someone like him probably gets bothered all the time, and if he's a private person it could be hell on him everytime some one trys to talk to thim. Also you asked him about a fight knowing it provoked negative feelings, how would you feel that after you get fired from a company some one comes and asks you how the company's doing?
he came to my high school in 98 and talked about being positive and staying in school. or some crap like that. people wanted to talk about his ear. i wanted to talk about his children and lennox lewis.
i've seen boki a few times out around town and everytime he has been really nice and we chatted. then again, i'm a girl. but still...he was very nice.
and i doubt Boki gets harrassed as much as holyfield I mean when Boki visits the cities around america who beyond ROCKET FANS knew him Rocket River
that't true and he's still young so i'm sure he's excited with the novelty of it. but if he becomes a superstar and it continues for 30 yrs, i'm sure it gets old.
How can you say he was stuck up. He signed your hat and spoke with you about a fighter he lost against, Did I miss something? I've heard worse.
Sounds like you were the jerk for asking about the Lights out Tony fight. Were you looking for in-depth analysis from him? Keep in mind he's not the sharpest guy.
I met Fernando Vargas, really nice guy. My mom saw Vernon Maxwell once and said she felt very afraid (now why would she think like that?)
I saw him at the KC-Houston Monday Night game back in 1991 and my brother and I were debating whether to go up and ask him for his autograph when we saw some guy try it and get the Heisman. Evander not only did not want to sign the autograph, he did not want to have to think about the possibility, to judge by his vituperations. I would have poured a Coke on him except that I was pretty sure he was a better fighter than me.
